Rock 'N Learn Sight Words Level 3 review -- and giveaway!
Prizing and information for this giveaway have been provided by Rock 'N Learn. I received a DVD for purposes of review; however, all opinions in this post are my own.
I've actually been familiar with the Rock 'N Learn brand for years, because when Junior High Guy was much younger, he loved some of their live action math and Spanish DVDs and would sing along with an enthusiasm that would probably embarrass him now. So when we had the opportunity to check out one of the newer Rock 'N Learn DVDs with Mr. 7, I thought this would be a great chance to see how things have changed over the years and if they were as catchy as I remembered.
Here's Mr. 7 opening up Rock 'N Learn Sight Words Level 3, which targets grades 1 and up and covers all first grade Dolch sight words plus some of Fry's. (And yes, he's in PJs -- how else do you watch DVDs?!)
Unlike the earlier Rock 'Learn DVDs I remembered, this one was entirely animated, and you can check out a clip on YouTube here. We had to look up the gray guy here online to confirm he was an armadillo -- Festus by name, apparently.
Still catchy! Catchy enough to hold Mr. 7's attention through the whole thing -- and yes, there was some dancing involved. Each sight word is presented individually, then as part of a song with a bouncing dot to help kids follow along with the words. It's always good to see videos that are both attention grabbing and educational, and Rock 'N Learn has quite a few to choose from.

Oh, I'd love these for my preschooler! I think the letter sounds looks great as that's what we've been working on with him lately.
The sight words DVD looks like something I could use with my preschooler. I'm sure he would be more into it because of the music too.
Sight words for sure
Sight words! This sounds awesome and I am tired of making notecards.... lol
My three-year-old grandnephew has mastered letter sounds through with the help of various DVDs and books. The next logical step would be to ge the sight word DVDs.
I love the sight words video! They all look great though! thanks for the review!
The Telling Time DVD we seem to be having difficulty mastering this
Sight words is our first choice. Telling time would be great fun too.
the writing strategies sounds like a good one for us here!
Oh my! I want them all. My twins are in grade 2 so multiplication is on the horizon. I think that would be the one that I would pick - Multiplication Rap.
Sight words would really help my Kindergartner!!!
My daughter would love the sight words. She is in kindergarten.
I would pick either a language or multiplication. Thanks.
Would be great for my 5 year old!!!!!
My son will be starting multiplication in school soon, so that would be the one I'd select. Thanks for this give away!
definitely sight words. My granddaughter just started kindergarten and it would be great for her.
I would love to get a sight word DVD. My 6 year old son is not into reading at all. He loves music so this would be a perfect avenue for him to learn new sight words.
The sight words look great for my toddler!
I would get the "Getting Ready for Kindergarten" DVD for my preschooler.
I would love the Site Word DVD for my kindergartener. As of yet, she hasn't shown any interest into reading. It's all about the electronics.
I would love the addition and subtraction rap for my 1st grader!!!!!
Letter sounds would be perfect for my preschooler. I think he would love it!
Either sight words or nursery rhymes. Maybe both, LOL
It'd be a tough pick between Learning Spanish, Sight Words, and getting ready for kindergarten!
I would get level 1 sight words for my kindergarten class. This is a fun and engaging way to teach those pre-reading skills!
