Five Fave ALDI Finds & deals, 7/19/23

sandwich and snack bags for back to school at aldi

Let’s start with back-to-school items, because… can you believe we’re getting near the end of July already! School starts here in just about a month, meaning it’s sneaking back up on us sooner than we think. This week’s ALDI ad sports value packs of Boulder snack and sandwich bags, which are pretty comparable to Ziploc IMO: Pick up 200 snack bags for $3.99, or 300 sandwich bags for $4.79.

That works out to 1.6 cents per sandwich bag, and 2 cents per snack bag. (This is more expensive than previous years, but still a decent stock-up deal.) I popped down the regular aisle and their normal 100 ct box of sandwich bags is $1.99, or 2 cents a bag — and even the basic Amazon brand or Target brand sandwich bags will run you more.

aldi student planner 2023-2024

Teacher and student planners are also back on the shelf this week at just $6.99. These run from August 2023 to July 2024, and are always great quality, although the student planners this year are slightly smaller. (See one here in the cart, for scale.) ALDI student planners contain both monthly and weekly pages, and come with a ruler bookmark, tabs, sticky tabs, stickers, planning pages, quick reference pages, a little pocket folder, and more. They also sport a dry erase cover for notes.

aldi teacher planner 2023-2024

The teacher planners are larger than the student ones and look quite nice. This year’s ALDI teacher planners include lesson planning pages, monthly and weekly pages, student contact pages, stickers, ruler bookmark, communication log, and more. Teacher planners sport the same dry erase surface on the cover for temporary notes, too.

Oh, and for those of you who aren’t teachers or students — little 12-month undated planners or perpetual calendars are $4.99. If you do miss the ALDI student and teacher planners in store (they go fast!), Amazon does generally have a nice selection at decent prices. Check out their student planners here, and their teacher planners here.

aldi insulated lunch bags

On our back-to-school note, Lily & Dan insulated lunch bags will run you $8.99 this week. We picked up one of these last year, and like that it has reinforced hard sides rather than the soft ones. This makes it easier to pack, and also less likely that the kids’ lunches will get crushed inside a backpack before they even get to school. Choose from multiple designs: Camo shark, dino skeleton, cars, zoo animals, marble tie-dye, mythical stickers, constellation, or tropical.

This is exciting: My ALDI ad this week sports 1 lb packs of 85% lean organic grass-fed ground beef for $3.99. That’s cheaper than the conventional ground beef at my store (which is up to $4.79 a pound!), so a great opportunity to pick up the better and tastier variety.

What are you going to make with yours? I do have some ideas… Check out:

Stock your freezer at this price; it’s even cheaper per pound than the last time the family pack of organic grass fed ground beef went on sale.

berry keepers at aldi

Lastly: A 2-pack of Crofton berry or produce keepers will run you $9.99. These really work; just make sure not to put them in the dishwasher as they will melt and warp. You’ll make your initial investment back in savings over time, when you’re no longer throwing away moldy, sad berries.

What are you looking forward to picking up at ALDI this week?

Runners up for me from this latest ALDI ad include the Easy Home folding step stool at $8.99 (great for short folks like me…), as well as the Pembrook 50-card combo pack for $4.99 (useful to have on hand for thank-you notes & more).
