This is (belated) Halloween: Caturday with the Notorious BKL and Friends

Welcome back to Caturday with the Notorious BKL and Friends, this is (belated) Halloween edition! How is it already mid-November — it feels like Halloween was just yesterday…

Welcome back to Caturday with the Notorious BKL and Friends, our somewhat belated Halloween edition! I know, I know: Halloween was actually a couple of weeks ago, but time flies when you’re having cats. And yes, it’s also that time of year when several bad kitties took their annual trip to the vet and put their various personalities on display.

The Notorious Bad Kitty Lucy kept trying to head out the door, either to explore, or to confront the barking dog in the lobby. Mr. Thinks He’s Tougher Than He Is Jiji tried unsuccessfully to jump up onto a high shelf in the examination room, knocking everything down in the process.

And, poor little Neutrino just tried to make herself as small as possible and squeeze herself right back into the carrier. (Failing that, she arranged herself on top of it and tried to pretend nothing was actually happening…)

Every day is Halloween, with cats

Let’s get back to our Halloween theme, though. Did you ever have to run out late on the night before the holiday to replace a key piece of a costume that had mysteriously gone missing? If you have, you may have found the stores frantically clearancing out their hot mess of last-minute scattered Halloween items, and in your rattled state, you may also have found yourself impulse buying something like a spider costume for your cats.

Yes, this “spider” only has six legs, so maybe that’s why it didn’t sell. And never fear, Lucy and Jiji each only tried out the costume for a couple of minutes. They weren’t huge fans — but, who do you think wore it better?

The bad kitties also helped carve our Halloween pumpkins this year, were disturbed by the seeds, but seemed to think that the stringy innards were some kind of bizarre cat toy. We always pick up our pumpkins at ALDI, by the way, because they’re such a nice size & price.

Halloween also brought the colder weather in, and Jiji doesn’t appreciate it. He actually tucked himself in here, and may not emerge until spring. (If he IS a shadow, is it six more months of winter?!)

How’s your Caturday going?

You are a really brave lady to put a Halloween costume on two cats! I think BKL would probably have preferred a Princess or Queen costume. Maybe next year?
