Turkey pot roast, brought to you by the letters Jennie and O
I received a Jennie-O turkey post roast for purposes of review. All opinions here, however, are my own
So a couple of months ago, I made a toss-off comment in a Dominick's deals post about "what the heck is turkey pot roast?"
Well, now I know! Look what showed up on my doorstep this morning, courtesy of the nice folks at Jennie-O, who read my post and wanted to spread the word. 🙂
This was fortuitous, because I didn't have dinner plans for the evening yet. So, I opened one up...
And I cooked it... and I pulled out the bone per package directions...
And I shredded it...
And we ate it! Easy-peasy. You can oven cook or microwave this. I opted for the oven method -- it's pre-cooked, so only takes an hour -- and it shredded easily and made the house smell like Thanksgiving.
Yes, but how did it taste?
This is dark meat, which isn't Mr. Mashup Mom's favorite. He pronounced it: "OK, I'd eat it again." The boys pronounced it: YUMMY. I pronounced it: Pretty darn good. They have a nice recipe on the back for making turkey tortilla soup with the leftovers, which I may try if there are enough left. (Or just eat it for lunch tomorrow. Decisions, decisions.)

Am I the only one who had never heard of this?
I skimmed through and saw someone found at Costco, I will have to look when I am there next, but where else can you find this? Just curious… would like to try since I don't eat red meat and think it would be a great substitute for a traditional pot roast! 🙂
Hi, Soapbox....i buy mine at Stater Bros and have also seen it at both Albertson's and Fresh and Easy (though not lately). Stater Bros buys it frozen and then puts it on their own rotis, so you are saved the trouble of cooking. Hope that helps
I have been running around trying to find this product at my local costco stores. No luck so far but will check out stater bros and albertson tomorrow. Anyone else know other stores that sells them? Much appreciated!
I know I am way late to the party...lol. But I just got a Turkey Pot Roast Meal in Southern California at Stater Brothers, in the deli area where they have the Rotisserie chickens. Basically Stater Brothers cooked up a little meal using the Jenny-O Turkey Pot Roast with potatoes, onions, carrots and celery. It was amazing! I have a friend that used to own a restaurant and her supplier sold a turkey pot roast ( a very large one) for about $50.00 and it was amazing, I was hooked. The restaurant closed a few years back and the supplier would no longer sell it to her, so I have been craving it since. So happy to have found this, my craving has been satisfied.
OMG! My favorite thing ever! We LOVE them! Ate them consistently from our deli area at Martins for two years and then they disappeared for a couple of years and we felt devastated! We’d eat them 1-2 times a week and the store was a long drive away! Now our new office is a block away from Martins and about two months ago there they were again but renamed as turkey dark roast with different packaging and we’ve been known to buy two at a time since they’re not there everyday.....eat one for lunch hot then warm up the other that night or the next in our ninja foodie ;(airfry) for dinner and it’s just as good as fresh! Only wish we could order them and have our freezer stocked up to always have them as an option! If only I could recreate that mouth watering magic! We’ve tried and never up to snuff
