How cute are these Heart Shaped Cheese Crisps? Express your affection with cheese, because these homemade cheese crisps are just so very easy to make (and so very tasty!). Let me tell you what I did here.

I told you a while ago about how to make your own cheese crisps at home, and did a little experiment as to which types of cheeses worked best. Well, this Valentine’s Day I got to thinking: There’s no real reason cheese crisps have to be circular, right?

Apparently not! 😉

So, here’s how you can make your own heart shaped cheese crisps.

Heart Shaped Cheese Crisps

Make your heart shaped cheese crisps with freshly shredded Parmesan and/or cheddar cheese — I did some of each here. It’s important to use freshly shredded rather than the pre-packaged shredded cheese, though, or these won’t come out right. How much cheese do you need? Well, how many cheese crisps do you want to make?

Ingredients

Freshly shredded cheddar and/or Parmesan cheese

Directions

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

arrange cheese on parchment paper

Shred the cheese. Arrange little piles of shredded cheese in heart shapes on the prepared baking sheet, leaving enough room between them that they won’t spread into each other as they cook.

Bake at 400 degrees for five minutes.

Remove the pan from the oven. If any of the crisps have spread out of shape too much, use a butter knife to gently nudge them back into a better heart shape while they’re still hot and pliable.

Let cheese crisps cool, then gently peel them off of the parchment paper.

Store any uneaten crisps tightly covered in the refrigerator.

Note: Arrange your heart shaped cheese crisps a little further apart than I did here — a couple of mine spread together and I had to gently slice them apart and push them back into shape at the end.

All you need is cheese… cheese… Cheese is all you need.

You can see here that the cheddar crisps are a little lacier and more fragile, so if you are looking for a sturdier crisp you may wish to stick with Parmesan. They’re both darn tasty, however! Heart shaped cheese crisps are a fun keto treat, and a great Valentine’s Day alternative when you can’t (or don’t wish to) do chocolate.

Heart shaped cheese crisps are gluten free, vegetarian, keto friendly, and low carb, so what more could you ask for in a salty & satisfying snack? You can also try using these as toppers for tomato soup or in salad, for a fun change of pace.
