What's your favorite way to eat matzo?
Let's pretend for the sake of argument that some of you might have a giant five pound box of matzo (matzos, matzoh...) in your house this week because it just so happened to be on sale pretty cheap at a local grocery store. This is the place for you to share your favorite uses for matzo!
What is your favorite way to eat matzo?
Me, I like mine simple with just a little butter and sea salt (this is unsalted matzo, so you'll want to add it!).
Hold it in your hand when buttering, because if you try to butter it on a plate it is likely to shatter. It's also good with some lox, onion, & cream cheese, but what isn't, really?
Now, my kids' favorite way to eat matzo is, of course, Matzo Crack. Fair warning: This stuff is pretty darn addictive.
These Everything but the Bagel Matzo Crackers are also kind of fun, and super quick to make.

Lots and lots of ways, all except "raw", I need to cook it some way. 1. matzo pizza 2. matzo lasagna-I find if you run the matzo under water before layering it, it comes out soft, like noodles 3. fried matzo- beat 3 eggs in a large bowl, add a bit of water, crumble matzo into bowl and mix. place into frying pan and cook like an omlet (flip) it too. Serve with sugar and jelly, or savory with taco sauce or salsa. 4. matzo farfel- saute onions, green pepper an mushrooms in a large frying pan. add a bit of water, a beef bullion cube, black pepper and (optional) soy sauce. Add crumbled matzo and stir until well combined.
I ate it with avocado today.
You can use it in lieu of saltines for a quick toffee candy. I also love matzo brei. Yum.
I love it with peanut butter
Matzo pancakes. Soak one or two matzo in water. Separate an egg and beat the whites. Add yolk to beaten egg whites. Drain matzo and add to egg mixture. Drop a tablespoon full in hot oil. Fry till brown on each side. Sprinkle sugar on top. Yum.
Got 3 boxes ,they have to be the most bla thing I have ever ate , tried salting with avocado ,helped slightly ,guess I should have toasted it too ,never had one and didn't know what to do .might try and make a cookie have a great recipe using saltines hope it works .
Good to keep a box in the car. If you get stuck in snow or ice, a board under a tire makes great traction! No kidding.
Bahahahaha!
A confession? We only eat the tam tam frackers because Passover matzah is so unpalatable. Last year I threw the rest of the matzah out for the ducks, and THEY refused it.
We thought they fit in nicely where we use saltine crackers and it's nice to have no salt. The box I opened are nice and light and crispy and flaky. I'm going to grind up a few and try to make Matzo balls for soup.
Well was hoping my birds would like them, feed them everyday gets to be expensive ,but my husband is on a salt free diet so he will be munching if he can find something to put on top . Anyone know why they make such a tasteless cracker?
For Passover, because of the unleavened bread the Jews ate when they didn't have time to let bread rise when they fled Egypt. Today, those who keep Kosher for Passover refrain from eating leavened bread and other leavened products during the entire seven days of the holiday.
Here's a summary on Wikipedia for you. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matzo
Well you can tell I know nothing about Jewish food ,Is this all year or only Easter ? my daughter is buying some now at her Jewel ,hope it still works today ! must be a big error in who ever put pricing in their system for all the stores .
Only eating unleavened bread (Matzo) is required just during the 7 days of Passover. My favorite way to eat it is fried with sauteed onions.
Please don't confuse Passover and Easter -- they are completely different holidays. Just curious why you are buying more, though, if you don't celebrate the holiday and don't enjoy the product? 🙂
And no, it's not an error. It's an advertised deal because the holiday is coming up -- just like, for instance, SavingStar was offering free Cadbury eggs around Easter or we get super cheap turkey for Thanksgiving.
Yes got that now ! but never have I gotten a $15 product for free ,with no catches. put some guacamole on a couple for lunch not bad . going to make chocolate bark cookies later ,hoping they will be ok hate to waste a cup of butter ,but using a cracker or a Matzo shouldn't be all that different (: crackers just more flaky when chewing I suppose will see how they score !
I LOVE matzah!
