Walmart ending price matching at 500 stores in June 2016
Heads up, folks: In the latest change to rock the couponing world, Walmart will be eliminating price matching in hundreds of its stores next month. No comprehensive list is currently available, but signs are going up now in about 500 affected stores to inform shoppers that "as of June 9, 2016, our ad match policy will be discontinued at this store. Instead, we're lowering our prices on thousands of items."
My guess would be that if the "lower prices, no price matching" strategy proves successful at these stores, we'll see more of this rolling out nationwide. (This will initially affect only about 10% of about 5100 Walmart stores nationwide.)
Have you spotted a sign announcing the end of price matching at your own local Walmart? Please comment here with the location -- and I'd love to see a photo, if you have one to share.

I wonder if they will also discontinue Savings Catcher as well.
I have read that Walmart will further encourage customers to use Savings Catcher so it looks like they aren't ending that.
That's really a shame. Most people think they're cheaper than other places and are unwilling to make Walmart feel the pain of the pricematch.
Do you know how many liars go price match bs prices and some cashiers just ring it thru... even I as a customer known that was a bogus price that lady just said to the cashier.. soany times I just wanted to say Bullsh to the person grrrr they ruin it for us honest ones
The 500 stores will no longer price match online retailers like Amazon.com at the register but they will still match Walmart.com. You will still be able to price match an online retailer at Walmart.com.
As far as this goes... the writing's been on the wall for some time. They made significant changes to it decrementing the program/policy starting last year...

I was looking for the current (pre-June 8th) rules for matching in the store. I can find the online matching info, but it says check 'in store' for the in store match info. I thought that you had posted that info in the past, but can't find it by searching.
They've recently updated it and it's now sketchier on details than it used to be. 🙁 http://corporate.walmart.com/policies -- I've posted about changes to the policy before but never the whole policy here, just links to the current one. I believe the check with store is now because it will differ by store?
