More notes from Washington -- awkward bat mitzvah photos
While here in Washington, we were looking through old family photos. So I thought I'd share this one with you myself, before any of my family members (*coughbrothers*) tried to blackmail me with it. I remember really, really, really wanting this dress. I'm no longer sure why, although I'm not sure it's the worst part of this photo. The 80s were a very long time ago...

Sorry, Rachel, but my first reaction was to laugh. The 80's definitely included big hair.
Hey, That's a Jessica McClinock for Gunnie Sax dress! I had the long sleeve, the sun dress, and the ruffly blouse (that I wore with velvet knickers). I B UBER_GEEK!
Are you kidding? That dress would have been a dream come true! Huge ruffle thing, big billowy sleeves AND a tie?! I bet you were on the forefront of fashion.
Those glasses are in fashion down here!!!LOL
Thanks for sharing! That was a chuckle but in a good way! I had similar glasses (but mine were tinted!) and braces and of course the big feathered hair. Oh good times!
That dress would have been my Holly Hobbie dream come true at that time. Never mind the hair, the cake and the bow are huge--looks like a great party and you look so happy!
Sad to say, but I think I had the same outfit and hairstyle. LOL
And, if you look really closely at any Goodwill store, you can probably find the dress.
Those were the times...... big dress, big hair and most importantly BIG SMILE 🙂
I agree!
Love it--- don't worry...you're still beautiful! 🙂
Awesome! You were working it girl!
So cute! Nobody makes fun of Princess Dianna's wedding dress. You had it in brown print, no tiara!
That sheet cake is bigger than you are! LOL You look great. No need to feel your brothers are going to black mail you with that photo.
Laura Ingalls ruled! I had this dress, too. Then I designed my own similar one that I made my mom create for me for 8th grade graduation. Braces, big hair... my glasses came later.
Sorry, I had to laugh too. I love that picture!
You look awesome! Love the dress and the hair!
You look so cute ! the dress that's another story (O:
Oh, you are so brave to share this photo! 😉 And I thought coming of age in the 70's was bad... My sisters are the lucky ones---their graduation pictures from the 60's are still lovely. Glad you and your family can have a laugh during this difficult time.
I think that back in the day those dresses were da bomb! 🙂 How many girls would have loved to have it back then!
I had this dress! And my little sisters had the toddler versions. We wore them for Thanksgiving one year. Somewhere I have a picture of the 3 of us in all our glory!
Happy, innocent, cute, and no worries ...Nothing else matters.
