Cookina Nonstick review — Grilling Sheet and Oven Protector

I received Cookina products for purposes of review. All opinions in this post, however, are my own.

I recently had the opportunity to check out a couple of new reusable Cookina PFOA-free nonstick products. Cookina is made from a PTFE-coated nonstick fabric, and they have a variety of products available.

First up, their oven protector, which lines the oven to catch spills and pulls out for super easy cleaning. This is a good call if, for instance, you tend to overload frozen pizzas as badly as I do…

The Cookina oven protector catches the spills, which  you can then clean off easily with soapy water before using the oven next time. And, before you end up with a smoking mess that sets off the smoke detector and causes your children to panic… not that this has ever happened here, of course…  Since the oven protector is reusable, it’s also more cost effective in the long run than foil or other alternatives. This pizza gunk, by the way? Wiped right off, no scrubbing required.

You can also cut to size if you’d like to use to line a toaster oven, microwave, inside your old scratched nonstick cookware, and more. (And now that I’ve read all the fine print in the directions… As you can see, I placed my Cookina oven protector sheet on the bottom of the oven, but their instructions actually suggest using it on the bottom rack in a gas oven for proper circulation. Moving it right now! Do as I say, not as I show…)

I also tried out the Cookina reusable cooking sheet for BBQs, which came with its own handy little scrubber.

The coolest thing about Cookina for the grill is that, although it keeps food from falling through the grate and makes the cleanup process a breeze, it’s still thin enough that your food comes off with grill marks! (This onion could have used a little longer, but you get the idea.) So, you still get the experience of the grill, but with easier grilling of veggies, fish, and other smaller or easily breakable items. And again, the Cookina sheet is reusable, so a nice money saver over time as compared with foil.

This Cookina reusable BBQ baking sheet also comes with a handy ring that allows you to roll it up after cleaning for easy storage. Mr. 7 is pretty convinced he can also use it as a lightsaber, but he is wrong. 🙂 Cookina is reversible, and since both sides are nonstick you don’t need to keep track of which is which.

Where to buy?

Look for Cookina on Amazon.com (where it has really nice reviews!), on the Cookina site, or in store at Home Depot and select Walmart stores. You can enter your ZIP on their site to find stores near you that carry their products.
