On my way back home

photo.JPG

I’m typing to you from the lovely LaGuardia airport. Well, the loveliest thing about it right now is that there are power outlets under each set of seats — brilliant, lol. Psst — O’Hare! Take notes! It’s not lovely that my flight is delayed, but what can you do…

BlogHer was really interesting, and I’ll be bringing you more info from various brands that were there over the next few weeks — as well as some giveaways!

For instance, did you know that Kozy Shack is now owned by Land O’ Lakes? As of just a few days ago… And they now have coffee flavored puddings. So there you go!

And apparently you can now buy Coke in aluminum bottles? I didn’t actually buy Coke in an aluminum bottle, because it was $2.59 for 8.5 oz, but you can. This, I didn’t see at the conference but at a Duane Reade drugstore nearby 🙂

If you don’t want Coke in aluminum bottles, this I did see at the conference — I have heard about SodaStream but had never actually seen one in use. Now I have. You can make your own soda with mixes ranging from “Dr. Pete’s” to “Diet Cola,” which is sweetened with Splenda, not aspartame. Now if they’d just invent one of those Coca-Cola FreeStyle machines for home use…

Speaking of which, there was a Five Guys in the airport, but before security. Why are all the good restaurants back there? Wish I’d known that earlier, lol. But we ate at a really good restaurant last night…

Joe’s Shanghai, which features “soup dumplings” — they were actually cooked with soup inside, and were awesome. If you’re in NY, I highly recommend.

It was, to be honest, tastier than the Dannon breakfast yesterday morning. Sorry, Dannon! I like your yogurt fine, and the pre-packed yogurt cups were great, but… this fancy yogurt parfait features layers of yogurt, granola with CURRY (see the yellow part in the middle), and cayenne on the top. Curried granola, not a personal fave, but I’ll give them props for creativity. Oh, and they have a new Activia breakfast blend yogurt going that’s 6 oz instead of four, mixed with grains, and higher protein than most other low fat yogurts.

Thus ends your stream of consciousness post of the day. It boils down to: I’m typing tired in the airport!

Right -- it was about healthy breakfasts -- and I do like curry, but in its place, lol. NOT in my yogurt.

Never been a big fan of curry myself, though I'm trying to use it more. I keep hearing more and more about the health benefits of Turmeric (the yellow ingredient of curry), so I'm not surprised that they found a way to incorporate it into the parfait. Especially if what they were trying to do was tought the health benefits of the yogurt.

Curried granola in yogurt?! That's interesting. Probably not in a good way either, lol!

OMG! Joe's Shanghai is our favorite!! I took my 12 yr. old there three years ago and he STILL talks about those dumplings. I'm so jealous. We ate there twice in one NY trip and he keeps begging me to take him back!
