Life is a Game: Caturday with the Notorious BKL and Friends

Welcome back to Caturday with the Notorious BKL and Friends, life is a game edition! Because when you’re always plotting and planning, everything is part of the game…

Welcome back to Caturday with the Notorious BKL and Friends, our “life is a game” edition. It really is: When you’re a cat, you’re always calculating your next move, and life is a game, when you’re a gamer…

Every cat’s a winner

But seriously, in a head-to-head Scrabble showdown between these two, who do you think would win? These photos were actually taken at two different games that we played about a month apart, but every time we play, we are joined by one or more of our feline friends.

We do play a lot of Scrabble here, and our plotting and planning cats are one reason that we have the deluxe Scrabble game board with indents to keep the tiles in place. It’s also just so beautiful, and rotates so that every player can have the same view of the board during their turn. This wooden one is pricey but shows up at a discount at Costco every year for the holidays, or you can pick up a more affordable plastic edition.

Where’s Waldo?

Speaking of games, how many cats can you spot hiding on this bed? Is anyone else having E.T. flashbacks right now?

And when you’re young, another good game is apparently decking out the long-haired cat with a couple of the Beardaments beard ornaments that somehow escaped the Christmas cleanup. (Don’t worry, though: This game didn’t last long, and she was de-decked-out right after this phone.)

Yes, I did say “Beardaments.” This is just one of the fun little goofy things we have picked up over the years, and you can find more in our recurring weird Finds series!

Let’s see, what else is a good game for cats. This one is called: “Made You Look!” No, we still have no idea what he kept staring at up on the ceiling, but you can’t win if you don’t play…

And speaking of games, one of Jiji’s favorite pastimes is harassing all of the other cats. You’ll note that he has been sporting a beautiful purple calming collar lately, which is helping (but not completely alleviating) the problem.

How’s your own Caturday?

I guess we are done playing around for now, so how’s your own Caturday (or cat-free week) progressing? We and all of the cozy cats are just making it through the ridiculous cold Midwestern winter over here, and looking forward to warmer days to come. As always, be sure to tune in next time for the latest in our ongoing Caturday adventures with the Notorious BKL and Friends.
