Caturday with the Notorious BKL and Friends: Books and Food edition

Welcome back to Caturday with the Notorious BKL and Friends, books and food edition. (Because really, what else does one need?)

It’s another edition of Caturday with the Notorious BKL and Friends: The one all about books and cats and food. (Because what else does one need in life, really.) We have been gradually turning a little-used front room into a library with some help from Facebook Marketplace — the solid wood bookcase above was just $30! — and it’s become the perfect hangout for our feline friends as well.

Cats may have some kind of natural affinity for books, or perhaps they just see the opportunity to climb and explore all of the shelves. Either way, cats and libraries go together pretty naturally, don’t you think?

But, who could leave Gnocchi put away up on the shelf for long — just look at that little face….

It’s corn! (cat)

Besides libraries, cats also naturally gravitate towards food. The Notorious Bad Kitty Lucy has always had a soft for corn on the cob; we can’t leave any out, or she’ll gnaw off all the kernels. It’s corn!

Food, food, glorious food

domino's pizza and two cats on a table

Speaking of food — we legit put this pizza down on the table, turned to get plates and napkins, and returned to this seeming detente. The closest these two ever get without fighting is when bonding over food, especially forbidden food. (And no, they are not supposed to be on the table next to pizza, but: Cats.)

Without food, what we get is a whole lot of this glaring-hissing-growling-fighting nonsense.

It’s not 100% fighting over here, though: We get more and more moments of peace. Can you spot the gray cat on the gray couch? She thinks she’s camouflaged…

How’s your Caturday going?

positive covid test

It’s good that things are calming down on that front, though, because a couple of us are down with Covid this week and just kind of lying low.

So, since that’s all the energy I have right now, I’ll leave you with the perennial question: How’s your own Caturday (or cat-free week) progressing? Let us know, and, as always, be sure to tune in next time for the latest in our ongoing Caturday adventures with the Notorious BKL and Friends.

Such pretty cats! I love cats and have two of my own as well as a dog.

Sorry you're having to deal with Covid! I hope your symptoms are mild and are over soon!
