How many papers? Week of 7/13/14

The week of 7/13/14, we’re expecting one SmartSource and one Red Plum. See the full list at Coupon Previews.

  • Use this as a general guide, because coupons and values vary regionally. Sometimes our papers will not include one or more of the coupons listed, or that one area will get one $ amount on their coupons, we will get another.
  • In Chicagoland, the Chicago Tribune has the most coupons in it — even if the Sun-Times, or the DuPage Daily Herald, or the other smaller papers have the same inserts, they’re thinner. (Occasionally, the Sun-Times will contain a coupon not found in the Trib, but overall you’ll find many more in the Trib.) If you are outside Chicagoland, you will want to buy the largest-circulation paper in your area.
  • In IL-Chicagoland, you can pick up the early edition of the Sunday Chicago Tribune on Saturday morning for $1.00 at Menards or Dollar Tree.
  • Be sure to check to make sure that the inserts are in there before purchasing — since they are no longer in plastic bags, they’re falling out, not making it in, or getting swiped.
  • Check out the Mashup Mom Coupon Trading Group on Facebook if you’re looking for different coupons or have some you want to trade.
  • Places to pick up additional coupons.

So, what looks good to me?

  • Arm & Hammer $2/2 liquid, power or single use laundry detergents (8/23). We usually only get A&H laundry coupons in the Sun-Times, though, for whatever reason.
  • Energizer $1/1 batteries or flashlight (8/9). Apparently there are new rebate peelies out, so watch for those.
  • Huggies $2/1 little snugglers, little movers or overnites diapers (8/9). Huggies are on the gas card deal at CVS starting Sunday.
  • Pompeian $1/1 olive oil or olivextra 15oz+ dnd (8/15). This often goes on sale at Meijer.
  • Scott $.75/6+ towels rolls (8/9) and Scott $.75/8+ bath tissue rolls (8/9)
  • Ziploc $1/2 bags (8/23). Use with the special Ibotta rebate for Walmart if you couldn’t get the printable.
  • Angel Soft $.50/1 facial tissue item (8/13)
  • Classico $1/3 pasta sauces (8/24)
  • Crest $1/1 rinse 327ml+ ets (8/31). Always useful for drugstore deals.

  • Snickers/Twix/M&Ms/Milky Way/Dovebar $1/1 ice cream multipacks 3-6ct dnd (8/24)
  • Venus/Daisy $3/1 disposable razor (8/31)

So, how many?

Eh. There are VERY few food coupons in these, so if you’re as loaded up on drugstore deals as I am right now… The Huggies coupon will be very nice if you’re planning on running the CVS deal or pick up papers on Saturday to do this week’s Target diapers deal.

Well, hmm. I usually like to get four on a P&G week, but I hate doing that when there are no other inserts and no food coupons. Still dithering, lol.

Not getting inserts in your paper? Or getting smaller inserts?

The Tribune is no longer including inserts in some papers, the further you get from the city — and sometimes people in Chicago and the southern burbs are also missing one or both inserts in both delivered and purchased papers. This decision is made by the inserts — they’ll decide not to distribute in certain ZIP codes, or only to distribute a certain number in given areas, so not all papers have them. If you’re in a smaller city or rural area, your inserts may also be smaller.

  1. If you’re looking for whole inserts, try Insert Insanity.
  2. For individual coupons, try their sister site, Wiz Clipz. Order by noon Eastern Time and they will ship the same day, seven days a week.  Order after noon Eastern Time, they will ship the following day.
  3. Klip2Save — No minimums, no fees, same day shipping, and coupons often available as early as the Wed. before they appear in the Sunday paper.
  4. Coupons & Things by Dede. Dede also has a loyalty program where you earn points for each order, and then can redeem those points towards $ off later orders. She ships fast.
  5. WeClipUSave — some cheaper than Dede, and often more stock. They also have whole inserts available.
  6. Also check out the Mashup Mom Coupon Trading Group on Facebook!

These are also good places to check out if you just want a lot of a single coupon. It can be more cost effective than buying multiple papers.
