Update — apparently the South Beach diet bars on sale at Meijer are cereal bars, not snack bars, and not the right item for the $3.00/1 coupon. See update from The Shopper’s Apprentice here. And an article on how you’re apparently supposed to know the difference at Coupons in the News here. Sorry guys, they sure looked like snack bars to me!

I thought it didn’t sound right. The prices of our snack bars at our Champaign Meijer were all different. The only one on price drop were the chocolate at $1.99. The rest were regular price at 4.99, 3.99, and other prices. Wal-Mart only had one kind, chocolate,(pretty wimpy selection) and it was at a higher price than Meijer.
I would say most people would consider cereal bars the same as snack bars.
If they wanted to exclude them from the coupon they should have done it on the coupon.
I would bet someone at Southbeach realized after the coupon printed it overlapped with a special pricing promotion.
Snackology semantics. I bought 4 boxes tonight prior to reading this. The young, male cashier ran all the coupons through at $3.00 each. You win some. You win some.
