Update on Dominick’s Mobil gas rewards points
Posted at 9:08 pm by rachel in dominicks, reward programsHere are some updates from you guys on the Dominick’s gas reward points partnership with Mobil, which is advertised on the wraparound of tomorrow’s 1/31 Dominick’s ad. You can read more about the program on the Dominick’s site here.
Again, you earn points — every $1.00 spent on groceries or pharmacy items = 1 point. Every $1.00 spent on qualifying gift cards = 2 points (excludes American Express, PayPower, Mastercard, My Choice, Dominick’s, Visa, Only 1 Visa, NetSpend and RE-loadit Cards).
Then you redeem points — 100 points = 10 cents per gallon in rewards. Now, updates from your comments:
- It looks like you can redeem up to $1.00 off per gallon at Dominick’s gas stations, and up to $.20 off per gallon at Mobil gas stations.
- Points expire the end of the month after you earn them.
- It looks like most, if not all, Mobil stations are participating.
- The Dominick’s app will track points for you.
- You can use either swipe your Dominick’s card or enter your attached phone number at the pump to redeem rewards points.
- Points appear to be accruing pre-coupon.

I was filling up about a week and a half ago at a Mobil in Bolingbrook, across from Meijer. I was surprised when the first thing came up on the screen, asking me if I had a Dominick’s card. Kind of like the Shell stations asking about the Jewel card. So I inserted my Fresh Values card, but got no discount because I had no points accumulated.
So I’m guessing if the Dominick’s question comes up on the screen, it’s a participating Mobil station.
I don’t have a car, but have points. I wish they promoted something for “green” folks. In the meantime, is there a way to donate my points to others? Preferably, someone broke. Or can they be swapped for say coupons I want?
You can use your phone number attached to your Dominick’s card to get the discount at the pump, it looks like, so technically someone else could use your number to get the discount. If you start swapping it, though, there is no guarantee that someone wouldn’t keep using your phone number and then if you swapped with someone else the points would be gone already when they went to use them, if that makes sense. So if you have a friend or family member you would like to donate points to, you can give them your number.
Good idea! I could change number after their usage is done.
