Tonight’s discussion topic — what else would you like to see in 2013?
Posted at 5:27 pm by rachel in metaI’m off for the evening to do a couponing program in Park Ridge. So in the grand tradition of discussion while I’m gone… we’ve now talked about what grocery store matchups you’d like to see added here, so let’s cast a broader net:
- What would you like to see more of on Mashup Mom in 2013 — or, what’s missing?
Comment here with your picks, and I’ll talk to you when I return, lol.

A winning lottery ticket!
Having visitors post their buys and coupons used when they get their deals would be awesome!
Nothing, its perfect! Unless of course winning lotto tickets is an option.. =)
I would like it if people would always mention the store location for the extra deals they find. Also, mention the super coupon friendly stores. My CVS in Blmgdle stopped taking expired EB’s on Jan 1st, unknown to me and I let one of my daughters $5 expire, so, it would be nice to know other ones that still take them. I feel bad because she is one of their better customers, and was sick, so, I messed it up!
The 2 CVS stores in Bartlett take expired Qs for at least a week, usually longer too.
I think everything is good. I like when you highlight/post your shopping trips!
Everything is great! Thanks for all you do!
I agree with the previous posters. I am completely happy with the way things are right now. Thanks for all you do Rachel.
I am very happy. Thank you!
I agree that everything you do is amazing and helps more than you know. The only thing I would like to see more of are some of the awesome meals you prepare with all of the bargains you find. I’m always looking for dinner ideas!
* or in some other way highlite stock up prices in your grocery matchups, online shopping – Amazon etc… household goods…. love your awesome site as it is already
I love everything you do for us! Don’t change a thing!
I love everything, especially posts/pictures of your shopping trips and meals you prepared with your deals.
I love everything you post! Thank you for all your hard work! and I second the winning lottery tickets
I enjoy all you do, thank you! Would there be a way to post the new instructions for something you already have? For example, the new way to do coupons.com. When I want to go back to refer to it, I have a hard time finding it if it’s been a while ago. If that’s too much trouble, then don’t worry about it. I really enjoy all that you already do!!!
Could you put begin and end dates in the title of your posts? Like “Jewel 1/17 – 1/23″? I often feel the end date would be helpful for me. Like everyone else, I’m pretty happy with everything else!
I think posts on saving for trips/vacations. It would be great to also hear from readers who were able to save throughout the entire vacation planning from tickets, transportation, hotel etc. What sites they used what they would do differently and what to avoid.
This would be great because it wasn’t until I started couponing that vacations was even an option and hearing from someone who has been down the path and has a roadmap for me would be awesome. And your readers are so helpful and full of knowledge (I am thinking of all the post regarding cutting cable) that everyone is sure to benefit!
I 2nd this ….
Just keep that wit coming, Rachel. You make me laugh right out loud!
Ditto re: your wit and I love your song verses…IMHO, I wouldn’t want to see everyone’s deals and coupons–too much clutter…who would have time to read it all? Just keep things in Reader Deals as you have been and all will continue to be perfect.
RE: the start and end dates of ads that Jane requested…perhaps you could have a calendar, a la google, that would give a month at a glance for catalinas and other deals. You know, a picture paints a thousand words
Maybe it is there and I do not see it…how about a spot to let use know when the last coupon in an insert has expired so I can quickly know when I can thin my coupon files. Just a list of inserts and the date of the last coupon to expire.
If you go to coupontom.com and on the right hand sidebar the first items is “browse coupons” if you click that over on the other side (left) it lines out all the inserts that ARE still valid. There will be at least one coupon in that insert that is not expired. Everything else you can recycle.
You can also go to Couponsdealsandmore. Rachel links there from the “how many sunday papers?” post. If you scroll back through the insert dates, she deletes inserts where all coupons are expired, and even names the two or three coupons that haven’t expired so you can either clip those, or just dispose of the whole insert if you don’t need those.
I love your blog to the point that I slowly stop checking other blogs and just use yours as my #1 coupon resource. I will like to know when a store or Amazon has a product with a stock up price. Also, when you do your weekly store coupon matchup if there is product with a stock up price it would be nice if it can be pointed as a (stock up). Also I appreciate the “free” post you do. I have stoped visiting other blogs were visitors can post their coupon hauls because some people post pictures with no info of were to get the coupons and they just give bogus information that sound like lies, at the end it all start to look like the show extreme couponing. So be carefull with that and set some ground rules if you decided to do it. Thanks, keep up the good work.
I would actually like to attend one of your events. I keep trying but have a hard time getting away when you are on the south side. I’ve been on your blog for 2 years now and still want to attend a class of yours.
She will be in Bridgeview ,on Saturday, Jan. 26, 2:00 PM. Coupons 101.(Bridgeview Public Library)
Over time, your blog has become almost the only blog I use! (Along with Shoppers Apprentice) Thank you so much for all you do– your work has helped us pay off credit card debt and save for a down payment with the money we DON’T have to spend on products and food.
Just keep being awesome! (I 2nd, 3rd, 4th whatever– the posting of your trips and meals. Love it.
I agree with everyone else! Your website is pretty awesome and one of the only ones I use. And I love your wit, that is something not all blogs have. And my only suggestion or request is at the bottom of the page instead of next/previous page, is it possible to rename those buttons newer/older deals?
Keep up the AMAZING work!
Yes! Done. (Mostly because I wanted to see if I could figure out how to do it, lol) And thanks
Have to agree with your wit!!! Love it. Makes me laugh!! And so so true sometimes! Everything on here is great. I have learned so much. Saving money is a process. This website has made it so much fun!!!!
One more thing.
May be you could add arrows “next page” and “previous page” on top of each page, just like you have it on the bottom?
Sometimes I want to read a post what could be on the past pages and I never remember how it was tagged, so I just scroll through pages.
It would be much easier to flip a few first pages instead of going all the way to the bottom of each. Hope you understand that I am trying to say.
Thank you for all your posts. I love your pictures and detailed descriptions of your shopping trips.
Here’s a quick tip — hit Ctrl-End and it will immediately bump you to the bottom of the page.
Quick tip: If you want to jump back several pages, you can hit “End” from the home page, click on “Older Deals” one time, and then in your address bar, you’ll see: http://www.mashupmom.com/page/2/
Change that 2 to any other number, and it will jump you to that page. For instance at this time* changing it to http://www.mashupmom.com/page/35/ jumps you all the way back to January 7th.
*because it is page numbers, not dates, this will change constantly.
I’m more of a newbie, but have already saved a lot of money on groceries. Just knowing about the $1 Sunday papers has helped. I think it’s great that you work with other bloggers and I can go to their pages for more details if needed. Crunchy Fridays is great! I also wanted to mention that all of the info for black friday and cyber monday was very helpful as well as the deals on buying gift cards. It must have been a lot of work on top of what you already do. Thanks!
Something that would be extremely helpful to me would be to know more Amazon “stock up now” deals on things like paper products, diapers, wipes, foods, etc. I know you do your Amazon round up and that can be helpful but it always contains a lot of different types of items instead of the stock up basics. Just a thought. Thank you for all your help, helping me make ends meet for my family!
Love love love everything though stock up prices or a guideline of some sort would be great. Thanks
I agree with the others requesting a post for stock-up prices…I know that everybody is different, but it’s a good starting post. I think the last post regarding truly this topic was Janary 2011, when I first found your site…Love it by the way!
I would like to see a coupon trading spot. Where you could say looking for these qs, not using these qs. To make it easy to maintain you could say on Thursday night at a certain time everything is erased since it takes at least 2 days for mail deliveries and we could start with the new up coming qs and sales. Thanks though for everything you do.
