So here’s an update from seachicago — testimonial time! lol
Update: the glasses for my son from Coastal arrived today, in about a week—much better than the 2 1/2 weeks from our optometrist down the street! They’re fantastic! Really nice quality, already adjusted and fit well; also came with a cleaning kit: bottle of lens cleaner, cloth and eyeglass screwdriver. Also came with a nice *hard* case. Again, better than the optical place down the street, where $300 (mostly covered by insurance) got us a flimsy pair of glasses in a thin, envelope sleeve case. When we picked that pair up, they just handed them to me and expected us to walk out! They didn’t have my son try them on or offer to adjust them (I made them do that!), and it occurs to me that the optometrist probably should have checked his vision in them, as well (which didn’t happen). So glasses online seem like the way to go!
Just a warning: my aunt is an optician at an optometrist’s office (out of state), and she says they refuse to adjust glasses bought online. So I don’t know if that will be a problem in future, but I’m willing to risk it!

We actually ordered two pairs, the free pair, and a backup pair, so this is the backup — he decided he liked them better than the free frames. And our experience was the same as seachicago’s — they arrived in about a week, and each pair came with its own heavy-duty case, lens cleaner, and cleaning wipe.

i liked mine pair so much that i ordered my 14 year old brother a pair as well. he wears them all the time and gets many compliments. The thing i liked most about my pair was that the lenses were not as thick as the ones i paid $200 for from america’s best!
