Splenda hiding in Emerald nuts

emeraldsucralose

I was deleting some photos and just found these from Target the other day — I’d picked up these clearance Emerald Vanilla Roast and Cocoa Roast almonds to take a look at, then put them back. Surprise! Sucralose (Splenda) hiding in here, too. And Acesulfame Potassium is another artificial sugar substitute, so we get a double whammy with this one.

Although I’ve cooked with Splenda and purchased it in the past, I’ve been trying over the past year to avoid buying products that contain hidden Sucralose — other than the occasional Atkins-bar-type-treat for low-carb MashupDad, who remains a huge fan. We’ll convert him yet. 😉

I cannot consume any artificial sweeteners. I get massive headaches when I do. Aspartame is the worst headaches but Splenda gives them to me too. I read all labels and avoid all beverages at parties and gatherings unless I know who made them (i.e. lemonade out of a pitcher, or hot chocolate at a school/church event.) I read labels like crazy too. I appreciate you sharing this with us.

I generally do too, but with these, I just dumped them in my cart. This explains why my IBS flared up when eating them. Haven't bought them since that one time though.

Takes me almost 2 x's as long to shop anymore as I read every single label on every single item I buy. I got tired of buying an item I've used for ages and taking a mouth full and gagging, only to find out they have added stevia or some other foul chemical.

I like the warning that the can of almonds CONTAINS ALMONDS.
