Reader requests

  • From Laura: “I’m having major issues with the Georgia Pacific “Smart Must Haves” system accepting my uploaded photo’s. Kitty, how did you submit your photo(s)? Did you take one photo (like we do for Ibotta) or in small segments to zoom in on each part of the receipt? I’ve tried both methods and can’t seem to get this receipt to go though their system. HELP!”
  • One from karen: “I am looking for the best price on shelled pecans out near Oswego/Naperville. need about 10 pounds so they are pricy! Thanks in advance for ideas.”
  • Diane asks: “I’m thinking about getting this printer because mine died. Does anyone have this model? What do you think of it? Thanks!”
  • On the Veggie Fest, peaches is wondering: “Anybody have any idea how much they charge for the food at the food tents? It sounds like there are going to be lots of vegetarian restaurants and catering places, selling food. It is free admission, but their website said that they got 25,000 visitors last year. I am sure they will be giving out some free samples, but when 25,000 people show up, the free samples are only going to go so far. It is interesting when you look at the people speaking there, out of all the doctors speaking, at least five of them are doing their presentation only in Spanish. I remember reading once that this vegetarian fest has volunteers that go through all the trash to figure out what is recyclable. I think they encourage restaurants to avoid using plastic as much as possible, and so 90% of the trash is recycled. Even the toothpicks are recycled.”

Target

  • From Shandelle, for those not finding Pasta Chips: “I emailed Pasta Chips and their customer support are super nice! I was told only some Super Targets have them for now. But they offered to mail me some coupons good until the end of the year to make up for limited availability in my area which I thought was nice of them.”

To peaches about veggiefest: it is a fun fest and we have been going for years. The samples are not as great as the first years as far as taking stuff home. We had a small bag this year from attending a seminar and a few vendors gave out cookies and popcorn. There are more tasting samples and its all pretty good. This year the food was more like homemade things rather than a specific restaurant but it is all good especially the fries and pene pasta! It does get crowded but try going early tomorrow or later today. And the food prices are like 3-5 tickets and 1 ticket = $1

Meijer has pretty decent nut sales fairly often, and if you manage a 5% off sale at the same time, it’s pretty good. I also think Costco and Sams clubs prices on nuts are fairly good.

  2. LauraL says

Try Farm and Fleet in Oswego for the nuts. I haven’t been there lately but they used to have bulk nuts at a reasonable price.

  3. Valentina S. says

Driscoll’s strawberries, 1 lb and raspberries, 6 oz. are $1 at Meijer, 755 E Boughton Rd, Bolingbrook, IL 60440. As low as free after Driscoll’s survey coupons!

In response to Laura re: “Smart Must Haves,” I really had no clue what I was doing. I remember taking a photo of the receipt and then getting a message that they needed to verify my receipt and that I would hear back in 3 days. It was short enough that I just needed one pic. I honestly didn’t expect an approval, but in 3 days I got an e-mail saying I would get the rebate by mail. Wish I could be more helpful, but I was just winging it all the way. Maybe someone else who was also successful would be able to explain it better.
