Jewel

Magazines

  • A heads up from Pam on ShopSmart: “I ordered shopsmart mag thru that website previously–warning, it is NOT a year subscription, it is only 6 months. When you click on it you will see “6 issues.” I just looked mine up–my subscription started in March and ends in September. I do love the magazine though!
  • She adds: “^^the magazine is published 10 times a year.”

Reader requests

  • Maggie emails: “I am looking for a 5×7 feet rug and I remember that someone posted something about that a while back. There was an address where they sell greatly reduced rugs but I can’t seem to find the post.”
  • Dan posts on Facebook: “any deals for making smores my daughter wants a b-day party for 18 people help!!!”

Target

  • A tip from feelgood on next week’s Tide Oxi deal: “If see that your P&G coupons are auto-deducting for $12.99, have your Target mobile coupon ready, and have them scan it at the end. Your scenario should work like this: 6 Tide Oxi @ $10.00 each = $60.00 Minus three Tide Oxi BOGO coupons auto-deducting $12.99 each (total $38.97) = $21.03 Minus $1.00 Target mobile coupon = $20.03 Pay $20.03 and get two $10 Gift Cards = $0.03 total And that’s without sending in for the rebate! Then save your receipt and when you spend another $9.97 or more in eligible items, send in for the $10 rebate.”

Whole Foods

  • Advice from Lynne: “If you know that you need a case of something, you can call ahead to make sure they have it. I order my wheat berries in a 25lb bag (counts as a case,) so I always call ahead since we are not close by. This way I’m not making a wasted trip.”

Maggie, if you’re in Northern IL try contacting Carpet Concepts Unlimited in Round Lake. Donna sells rugs for $40 in various colors and styles. Lots of options between 4×6 through 7×9. They’re very high quality too!

Thanks Kari! We are more in the western suburbs, but we could possibly have a look there later this summer.
I wish there was one of these places closer to us though! :)

There’s a great deal on Head & Shoulders shampoo at Target this week, $0.82 a bottle.
14.2 oz bottles are marked $4.99 each. Buy three and get a $5 Target Gift Card.

    I bought six @ $4.99 each = $29.94
    Used three $5/2 coupons from 7/6 P&G = $14.94
Got two $5 Target gift cards, net cost was $4.94 for six bottles of Head & Shoulders shampoo, or $0.82 each!

The ones I got were Head & Shoulders clinical strength in a blue bottle (UPC 37000 27401), and they did generate the two $5 Target Gift Cards.
Also, I was only charged 2.25% tax on this variety, so that alone is a savings of almost $2.00 vs the high-tax rate.

      • feelgood says

        You’re welcome :-)
And if you try anything other than clinical strength, please comment.
I saw two types of Men’s Head & Shoulders, one with Old Spice scent, also tagged $4.99 each.
First $5 gift card generates after the third shampoo is scanned, second $5 gift card after the sixth one. So if you try other varieties and the first $5 gift card doesn’t generate, you could always ask the cashier to take those three off and scan the clinical strength variety instead.

They are mobile coupons sent via text, you will click on the link provided and it will open a new window on you internet explorer/ safari/ google chrome. There is a bar-code on the top of the page, which will be scanned @ the register before your Cartwheel. Hope that helps!

        Thanks
I guess you can’t do it with a computer like you do with 51 ! you need a special cell phone ,all I have is a old fashion pre pay flip So if I need a phone and monthly service it would be worth it in the long run right ?

        • peaches says

You can use a prepaid plan with a smart phone, but my prepaid plan charges me 10 cents for any text that I send or any text that somebody sends me. So I am not sure if it would cost me 10 or 20 cents to redeem one of those mobile coupons. For a fifty cent coupon it is not worth mu while. Most of the coupons are for stuff that I do not buy at Target anyway.

        • says

I would not get a smartphone if all you are going to use it for is mobile coupons, because it would likely not offset the monthly bill. It’s more like a perk if you have the smartphone, you can make some of your bill back by redeeming mobile coupons, ibotta, etc.

On the Smore’s question – I think CVS has the Hershey bars for .77 this week – that would make a 6 pack $4.62. I think the better sales for these items were probably around the 4th.

    • maggie says

There are still Manuf Q’s out there for smores – either a set or individual items. I would research generic brands as well at this point – you just never know.
