- Some advice from Holly on the possible bankruptcy effects: “For those that have ordered and do not recieve the book they can always dispute the charge w/the credit card company if they paid that way. Not sure what to do if paid w/a debit card. I ALWAYS use a credit card for online purchases – partly for this reason.”

- A suggestion regarding the above from letsshop: “why don’t you call CVS and explain your situation and some excuse why you forgot to use them in time . Year or more ago I did the same thing and she put in new Ecb’s in the comp. and voided out old exp. ones !and when I made a purchase they all the new ones printed out. But Berwyn is really good about exp. ones have you tried ?”
- One from Kari O.: “Does anyone have suggestions on good educational iPad apps for a 4 yr old and/or an infant? Or maybe apps that are amazing in general? Got a new toy and need to figure out how to make the most out of it! Thanks”

- Stacey sends over: “Special request to the savvy grocery shoppers from Aurora and Sugar Grove who are fans of Mashup Mom: My son’s Eagle project for Boy Scouts is a food drive, aptly named ‘Viral Victory Over Hunger’. Matt is a senior at West Aurora and is using social media to educate about hunger in our own neighborhoods and is seeking non-perishable items to restock these local food pantries: Between Friends (Sugar Grove) and Holy Angels (Aurora). His goal is to collect one ton of non-perishable items. (That’s about 4,000 cans…) He has located drop off boxes at St. Katharine Drexel Parish (Sugar Grove), Marmion High School, West Aurora High School’s A 209 classroom, Fairview Dental (541 W Sullivan Rd. in Aurora) and, of course, our own front porch (Sugar Grove). Can’t stand driving? Matt will make housecalls for local pickup of goods. Thanks for helping the hungry in our very own neighborhoods…If you have questions or would like to contribute, please email me at Stacey.miller1@mchsi.com We have 10 days left to reach his goal and would appreciate your contributions (and spreading the word to your pals in our area!)”
- Don on Facebook wants to know: “el Guero in Crest Hill – Anybody shop this place, I got an ad in todays paper – Rib eye steak $3.29/lb and Pork spare ribs $1.29/lb …. whats up with this place, seems aweful cheap?????”
Recalls
- Kerry shares some information and has a request: “I had quite the morning which sparked the gain of some interesting information so I thought I would share since we are all consumers: My Mr. Coffee keurig was not working correctly this morning (the water was not being circulated through the machine but instead turning into steam) which prompted me to search online how to fix it. Low and behold, these have been RECALLED because “a build-up of steam can force the brewing chamber to open and expel hot coffee grounds and water, posing a burn hazard”. Thank goodness I did not attempt to make another cup! These coffee makers, series Model BVMC-KG1, were sold at Bed Bath and Beyond, Target, and Walmart. As a result, they are replacing these machines. Here are several links with more information:

Only downside is after requesting my prepaid box to send it in and get a new machine, I was informed it will take over a month! So in the meantime, any deals or sales on coffee makers would be appreciated”

Target
- From SoapboxTray: “The Suave Shampoo (Keratin) is part of the buy 4 get $5. GC. Make sure to only grab the Karatin, the Moroccan is valid on the coupons but NOT on the $5. GC. Buy 4 Use 2- B1G1 Suave in the 3/10RP Use 1- $1. off Suave Target Q Mine ended up being $3 something for all 4 (they deducted the full value of the coupon $5. for the 2 free ones). Also, Mundelein Super Target had lots of the small Bounce boxes at $2.09. I bought 12 this morning and there were at least 30 left on the shelf.”
- Elaine reports: “Bought the TGIFriday’s appetizers that were buy 3 get 1 free. They were $14.22 for four and they were the bigger ones, around 15 ounces. There was a Target coupon from the website for $2 off of 3. I had also printed off the TGIFriday manufacture coupons and was able to use one per item so it was a total of $6 off. It ended up being $8.22 for four of the 15 ounce TGIFriday apps.”
Ultra Foods
- Something Shirley noticed: “I went to Ultra in Wheaton to get milk today and saw tons of Nissin big Cup noodles.” They are 5/$1.00 through today, so free with the $1.00/4 in the 3/3 SS.
Valli Produce
- Matt says: “Pineapples are $1.49 and I have found some really big ones there before. They have the tubs of gummi bears for $1.99/lb. and they have dried apricots or pitted prunes for $2.99/lb.”

Ultra Wheaton also had about 10 boxes of the Purina Cat Food left ont he shelf. those coupons expire in the next day or so.
Betzy : go to the CVS you always shop at. I’m sure they probably know you and just tell them what happened. I had my whole receipt stolen in the store with $15 ECB on it and they reissued them to me.
Don on Facebook wants to know of Mercados el Guero and inexpensive meats.
Don the stores below (ethnic theme) have rib eye on sale for $3.99 frequently.
Mercados el Guero At $3.29 the rib eye meat is sliced very thin for stir fry or sandwiches not so much steak thick cut. Know nothing of the Crest Hill specifically.
Hmart has rib eye on sale now for $3.99 Thin sliced, fresh and bulk frozen.
Cermack has rib eye on sale now for $4.99 steak, and thin sliced.

Great, Thanks a bunch Kevin
CVS on Lake St. & Bloomingdale rd. in Bloomingdale takes expired ECB’s, up to 1 month.
I was told by the clerks at the Bloomingdale CVS that they stopped taking expired EB’s as of 1/1/13. Someone on this site told me that the Bartlett stores still take them, but I would call 1st, as that may have changed also. Gas is way to expensive to use on a trip for nothing.
I need help my gas range broke, and i need to buy a new one does any one knows a good sale?
To Miriam: Have you tried Sears Outlet? That is where we bought our gas range a few years ago. It was very heavily discounted, I think because of a minor scuff on the side (which is not visible anyway!) They were able to install it for us, and it had a warranty, same as if we had bought it from a regular Sears store.
Just went to Target today to see if their $5 giftcard deal was working on unmarked items that were seen in the insert… They worked! Bought my hubby 2 twin packs of degree ($3.99 each) used the BOGO coupon and picked up two Clear shampoo/conditioners ($4.99 each). The giftcard prompt came up! And the BOGO scanned for $6.99, so I only paid $3.98. Factor in the giftcard and I made $1.02!
Also, I went to CVS too and got more Dr Pepper and Oreos. Got another $5 ECB and now my limit has been reached. Thanks to everyone who commented before for the tip!
Many thanks to the gals who reached out to help Matt w/his Eagle project of re-stocking our local food pantries in Aurora/Sugar Grove. We sincerely appreciate your help!
We actually did not see any gas stoves that we like at the stores so we went online and found it at Home Depot. It was around the July 4 sale that all appliances were on sale and HD also had buy 2, get X amount off. The best part is that we used our credit card to purchase our appliances online and got 10% back.
