Here are some of the deals (and heads up!) YOU found recently — Thanks! How do you share your own deal?

Big favor: If you mention other sites, online coupons, etc, please include the link. Disclaimer: All of the deals below come straight from readers.

Ace Hardware

  • Don says:  “I see on Ace Hardware site they are selling a Topsy Turvey Tomato Planter for $2 in store pick up…limited amount”

Amazon

  • On the Q-tips, Koupon Kat noticed:  “I don’t know if it was there yesterday, but I just checked the price because I was considering ordering and there was a $1 coupon you could clip for this, making it $9.99 if you don’t subscribe.”
  • Outlander spotted:  “Hotel Transylvania DVD is only $10 on Amazon.

Apps

  • Tina shares:  “I actually did end up finding an Android app that had what I was looking for. It’s called Smoopa. Totally free! Smoopa is an user-dependent price database app that allows us to scan the barcode of anything and enter the price paid. I’ve entered a few things for Meijer on Weber in Bolingbrook.”

Coupons

  • Tami noticed:  “I just got my mail and on the back inside cover of the new ads sleeve (did that make sense?) is a coupon for BOGO on Fresh Accents from Renuzit.  Buy the refill and get a holder free.”
  • Charlotte on Facebook found:  “$1.50 off Wholly Guacamole

Dollar General

  • Amy shares her deal:  “Used the 50% coupon as follows: 5 large Stacking Baskets, Plunger, Mr. Clean broom and dust pan, Spiderman bedroom garbage can, Princess bedroom garbage can, Wine Corkscrew, Peeler, 4 Pillows, 18 pk washclothes, 2 Heavy Duty Shower Lines, 2 Outsoor Mats. All 50% off – $41.75 plus tax”

Foodsaver

  • MamaHan has one and is wondering:  “I have the red one and just started using it last week after picking up some clearance meat from Dominicks. The zipper bags are hideously expensive, so does anyone have ideas on how to get them cheaper? I was happy that I was able to use some stockpiled Ziploc vacuum seal bags with the handheld FoodSaveer and they worked pretty well. I don’t see these go on sale, but I think these are cheaper with the Ziploc coupons from the inserts instead of buying 8+ FS boxes to get a 30% discount. Have any of you been able to find a decent price on the bags? Thanks in advance for your help and ideas on this!”
  • Su’s experience:  “I used to have the Reynolds vac and bags and I LOVED THEM. Then I couldn’t get the bags at the store anymore. Then I saw they were being carried ONLY on HSN. I stockpiled a bunch. by the time I ran out, HSN stopped carrying them and suddenly they were Debbie Meyer Genius bags. Ok..same bags, ordered them. My last order they changed whatever the bags are made from. They are VERY difficult to open. Plus, they have always been really expensvie comparatively because you just can’t reuse them if you freeze meat in them. As you defrost, the juice gets into the gusset and that’s it. They never come clean to my satisfaction so into the trash they go. Granted, I still liked vacuum sealing, it’s just this was no longer going to be a good option. Over the holiday I bit the bullet and bought a full on FoodSaver system. I finally used it this weekend when I had 7 pheasant breasts to bag up after a hunting trip. Honestly, the unit is very easy to use and takes up little counter space. Now I haven’t used the marinating container yet. I’ve heard mixed reviews about it (too much pressure eventually causing the lid to crack). We will have to wait and see on that front.”

Household tips

  • Kristy’s idea:  “And if you bought Christmas kisses on clearance in January, just pull out the green ones and save them for next month. (Or eat the evidence of your frugality, whatever.)”
  • Outlander suggests:  “For the centerpiece I have used for Christmas a clear vase with cranberries inside the water and then clip some evergreen branches from the back yard and put in. But you can also use with other flowers and no need for a second vase. Red cranberries and red roses would look pretty for Valentines day. Cranberries last in the water for weeks. Maybe you still have a bag or two in the freezer since Thanksgiving.”
  • Suzann recommends:  “If you want seeds that are hard to find go to Baker’s Creek Seeds– they are online. Plus they throw in a freebie. I have used them for about 7 years.”

Jewel

  • Finds from Michelle on Facebook:  “My Jewel had the Bic pens and mechanical pencils on clearance for .25 each, Crayola crayons for .10, compass for .25, folders for .25, notebooks for .10, and Disney folders for .25 plus a lot more. If you still have those $1/2 Bic coupons, they expire 2/16.”
  • From LauraL:  “A little update on the Jewel N. Aurora closing. I went there at 3pm today and most stuff was 50% off. They were taking coupons and catalinas were printing. Pretty picked over except for the following: -Expensive brand coffees (though I heard the manager talking they were going to send those to another store soon). -Plenty of cream cheese/fondue cheese -Condiments,sauces, pickles, olives, salad dressings, jellies -fair amount of upscale pet food -canned soup – some canned veggies and fruit -microwavable rice In general higher end items were left.”
  • Eden updates those thinking of doing the freezer deal:  “*EASY COUPON DEAL* JEWEL FREEZER DEAL is STILL ON @ Chesterton Jewel Osco. 60 freezers in stock as of 2/11/12. Buy 1 small cube chest freezer for 169.99 get 1 coupon book worth 170.00 in mostly free product coupons. Freezer comes with 1 year warranty. I have had one for 6 years and I LOVE mine. It makes a great overflow or garage freezer for when deals come up. Not gonna lie, say I sent you and I get an incentive from my manager. :)

Kohl’s

  • A reminder sent over by Linda:  “CUPID30 Feb 13-20 at Kohls”

Kroger

Meijer

  • A deal from boce:  “LYSOL AT WALGREENS. CHEAPER AT MEIJER. Meijer St. Charles has the three-pack of the oxy toilet bowl cleaner on clearance for $2.97. I’m guessing they would take the $2 off 2 Walgreens coupon. So, pay $3.94 for two, three packs = $.65/bottle. Just a thought. I didn’t realize the coupons existed and bought some the other day cuz I was desperate. Working really kills couponing.”
  • Another option for using the $1.25/1 Peanut Butter Toast Crunch, cindy noticed:  “Also $1.99 at Meijer.”
  • Kim spotted:  “Meijer in St Charles has a lot of juice on clearance. Some expire in February and most in march I got orange juice for $1.49 and mango twist for $1.04″

Menards

  • One from feelgood:  “This might be an unadvertised Menards item, NO LIMIT. Here’s what the product looks like. It’s a steamer basket, frying basket, pasta basket, and a bowl for the counter. It folds flat for storage, so it’s easy to just throw in a drawer.”
  • One sent over by letsshop:  “I found a small Menards coupon book ,thats was mailed to me last month ,it has b1g1 Fisher peanuts and I found  a  1/13 SS has $1/2  makes for cheap peanuts about 75cents a jar (O: Went write through no beeps .”

Rebates

  • Amanda on Facebook says, of the Snapple rebate:  “I never received mine so I emailed them and the replied with a number to call and low and behold a new one arrived last week!”
  • Anne wonders:  “Did anyone else have trouble with Starbucks fulfilling the recent rebate? They filled one no problem, but my second submission, they rejected and didn’t notify me and now won’t give me a reason why!?! I’ve done these in the past with no problem and am sure I followed the rules on both submissions.”

Target

  • From Sue B.:  “Just came from Target and thought I would pass this on. I bought the Lloyds twin pack mini tubs of pulled pork – they sell for $2.69 was able to use the $1.00 off Target Q and the $1.00 off coupons.com Q – paid .69 plus tax. Not a bad deal.”
  • And Susan on Facebook found:  “At Target, Dunkin Donuts Strawberry Shortcake bagged ground coffee is $3.74; rings up at regular price but cashiers will adjust it down. Plenty left at the Woodridge Target on 63rd Street.”

Does anyone have suggestions on windshield wipers? Any help with brands and where I can get a fair price would be appreciated. I have a 2004 honda crv.

    • jane says:

Sarah, you and I drive the same cute car! :) Even though they are more expensive, I love the Rain-X brand wipers. I used to have to replace my cheap wipers all the time, but bought these during a promo at my oil change place, and they are fantastic. They last a long time, and never squeak! My husband bought Rain-X at Target, after I got mine. But check various oil-change places for coupons or promos.

OMG! I have the same model and year too.I get the wipers from my honda dealer (Mcgrath in Elgin) .They are $12.00 .They give 10 % discount or if you have any competitors coupon, they take that too.It lasted me more than 5 years in my other honda.HTH

    • DON OCONNELL says:

Autozone will be happy to help you put them on, check their web site for a possible deal/sale.

  2. VB says:

On my way to PM hotel Transylvania at best buy. This should make a great Valentine’s gift for the kids and I dont have Amazon prime so I wont have to look for something to get me to $25 to get free shipping.

  3. Sabrina says:

The Walgreens coupon for $2/2 is actually a manufacturers coupon, not a store coupon. So any retailer should take it. And it has a long expiration date, 08/31/2013.

    • rosa says:

      what q is that for

      • feelgood says:

I think Sabrina is talking about the $2/2 Lysol MQ found in the Walgreens Cold & Flu book, which says Redeemable at Walgreens. Jewel and Dominicks should accept the coupon as per their coupon policy, but it might be YMMV at Meijer:

“Meijer will accept coupons from major competitors in each store’s trading area for General Merchandise items only if the competitor’s price point is included.”

I guess it depends whether they consider Lysol a grocery or a general merchandise item. Might be best to go thru self-checkout and scan the coupon yourself. lol

  4. Outlander says:

Do you have to print that Dollar General Q or can you just show it on your phone? Thanks.

  5. BethP says:

The new Katy Perry Kettlecorn Popchips are on sale 2/$4 at Dominicks and I had a $1 off J4U coupon (exp 2/13) and a BOGO J4U coupon (exp 3/5). My receipt looked like this:

    2 Popchips Katy 3.5oz
    Reg Price $5.58
    Card Savings -$1.58
    J4U Store eCpn -$1.00
    J4U Mfr eCpn -$2.79
    Total $0.21

So it looks like the BOGO Q took off the non-sale price The $1 Q expires tomorrow!

I found some great clearance deals on dental floss and toothbrushes today at CVS. I got a free toothbrush (it was an Oral-B, marked at $1.99 clearance, but rang up at $.99, so with my $1/1 coupon it was free.) I also got a free CVS brand toothbrush which was marked at $.89, using a $1/1 coupon from the magic machine for a toothbrush (it said “have a cold, buy a new toothbrush”). The coupon beeped, but it was still free after being adjusted down. Oral-B dental floss 3-D white was not marked down at my CVS, but I learned when I tried to purchase it as part of the spend $10 get $5 deal, that it was actually $1.14 and not the $4.59 I was expecting. So with my $.75/1 coupon, just $.39 for floss.

  8. Meg says:

I have my first ever “reader request.” Does anyone have a recommendation for high-end take-out or delivery in the O’hare area? I’m thinking steaks or seafood. We have a sick kid so we can’t go out for Valentine’s Day. So I’d like to pick up something really nice for dinner (but I don’t want to cook!).
