• Sara shares:  “The good thing about winter in Chicago is many of the free days for museums are offered. (And the tourists are gone so we can visit in peace.)
  • The Art Institute is offering weekday free admission through 2/13/13. Also note, the museum is open until 8:00 PM every Thursday. Their website says a full schedule of 2012 free days will be available soon.
  • The Adler Planetarium is offering Illinois residents free admission on the following dates: January: 7, 8, 9, 14, 15, 16, 17, 28, 29, 30, 31
  • Museum of Science and Industry is offering Illinois residents free general admission on the following dates: Jan 7-11, 14-18, 21-25, 28-31, Feb 6, 13, 20, 27 (see website for rest of 2013 dates)
  • The Shedd Aquarium is offering free general admission on the following days: January: 7, 8, 14, 15, 20, 21, 22, 28, 29 February: 4, 5, 11, 12, 17, 18, 19, 25, 26 March: 4, 5,11, 12, 18, 19, 25, 26″

CVS

• A few finds from Sara:  “I went to CVS in Wheaton this afternoon and they had Craig 7in Tablets on clearance for $24.99 regularly priced $100. I decided not to get one then changed my mind and by the time I went back they were sold out. I started calling around and the one in Naperville on Ogden had about 10 behind the counter. They weren’t advertised but rang up at $24.99. I bought two. They also had the popcorn maker that I heard a few people talking about for $15, regularly priced $60.”
• A suggestion from Ashley for those with a meter they can’t use:  “Most towns have a pantry who takes them for diabetic residents who have fallen on hard times. I know schaumburg does, they always get a lot ”
• A deal from letsshop and Hip2Save:  “Buy 4 Aleve Tablets 50ct $6.99 (based on online price). Minus Buy 1 get 1 50% off sale = $20.97. Dominick’s

• From Caroline on Facebook:  “remember the Jose Ole products for $3.99 at Dom’s? Well I went to one near my MILs and indeed the $1 off of JFU came off and the cashier took my $2 off coupons too thus making them .99 each! UGH they only had two boxes and I got a raincheck. Came home and now they are no longer on my JFU. Drats.” The $2.00 coupon is no longer available.
• An idea from letsshop:  “I think the water on sale at Dominicks  .5 is the same as 16.9 that has a catalina  on it now ,also its on my J4U $3.33 unlimited !” Previously, she said:  “Got a cat. alert from Dominicks Ice Moutain water B3G$2 B4G$4 EXP. NOW - 1/19″

Meijer

• A heads up from Kim:  “You can see from the original post that the 7 off 80 is just for her, not everyone. It isn’t on mine, and I have gotten these at other times when no one else reported them.”
• From Andrea, with a visual:  “The Meijer on Rt 59 in Naperville near the Fox Valley mall has Hanukkah party decorations on clearance 70 to 90%.”

• An idea from Matt on the 30 rolls of paper towels for $20:  “If you have a recycling reward you can get all those free with a $.01 filler.”

Starbucks

• On the free Blonde Roast promo, Laurie points out:  “You can actually load the value ($2.60) to an existing gift card & use it towards something else.”

Studio Movie Grill

• For next time they have a Groupon, a tip from Chris:  “One warning….go get your ticks in advance. Husband and I went to a 4:00 show last time they had a groupon and we couldn’t get two tickets together forty minutes before the show!”

Target

• Suzanne posts on Facebook:  “Target in Oaklawn has Similac simply smar stuff on clearance- 2 pk of bottles set $3.48 and there is a $2 off coupon on coupons.com and the formula power caps are $1.48. There was pacifiers and nipplesas well for Similac and Evenflow clearances all under $5.”
• Natalie0920 says:  “Wasn’t sure where to put this but today Target is giving out reusable shopping bags with a “lookbook” coupon book! $1 Campbell’s Go! Soup .75/3 Campbell’s soups Free Birdseye steam fresh frozen veggies (10oz. Or larger) with purchase is 2 fish sticks or fillets $2 off 2 laundry care items (tide/Downey/bounce) $1 off up &up diapers 60ct. $4 off GE reveal bulb pack” Ha, I went to Target today and got nada.

Toys R Us

• Ann  noticed:  “Toys R Us in Melrose Park has 90% off Christmas items. Lots of wrapping paper and bows left.”

Walmart

• Shawna found:  “Yesterday afternoon, I spotted 75% off single Christmas cards at Walmart in Shorewood. This included Christmas stickers in the card section, too.”
