Reader deals 12/18/13

Here are some of the deals (and heads up!) YOU found recently — Thanks! How do you share your own deal?

Big favor: If you mention other sites, online coupons, etc, please include the link. Disclaimer: All of the deals below come straight from readers.

Aldi

  • Something jennyh found: “Ninja bread cutters can be found at target for 4.99 and I found them at my aldi (Elgin) for 3.99! They include a cookie mix, frosting mix and some decorations too! Aldi also had ugly sweater cookie kits. Very cute”

Amazon

  • On the Cottonelle deal, Amy says: “Looks as if this was the same deal back in October. I tried to order it with the coupon and it said I had exceeded the use of the coupon, and then it told me I had purchased the item back in October.”
  • Sara noticed: “If you choose the black rice cooker, it’s even less, only $17.26.”

Dominick’s

  • Laura shares: “I was at Dom’s in Northfield Willow Road location today around 1:00 and they were literally COMPLETELY filling the frozen section with “all new” stock..kind of random but lots of good stuff. All kinds of pizzas, lots of frozen entrees, frozen vegetables and ice creams. If you weren’t seeing the other completely empty aisles, you wouldn’t even have known they were going out of business..filled to the brim. The guy stocking said they had just received an unexpected “massive” delivery of frozen foods. Too bad I don’t have more room in my freezer!”
  • Kathryn emails: “I haven’t checked if this is old news, but an elmhurst alderman just posted this.”

Glasses

  • A consideration from Francesca: “my son also came home with a note about failing the vison test. I brought him in to out family eye doctor his vison is just fine . Receptionist told me they’ve been folded with notes from schools and most do not need glasses . Just a heads up”
  • From msully: “We tried costal.com. Shipping was fast and prices great. They don’t try to get you to add a bunch of unnecessary extras. Just go to the eye doc for an exact script and measurements. first pair free is never a bad thing! They haven’t bombed us with mailers or emails either!”
  • Valerie recommends: “Once you get his vision checked, GET HIS PRESCRIPTION!!!! Then you can go on Zennioptical.com. Glasses are super cheap and great quality!!”
  • Mary T. says: “JCPenney always seems to have good prices on kids glasses. I have bought 2 pairs now in the last 2 years for my child during the back to school sale in Aug. and Sept. Glasses were only $25. Often have sales for $49 complete pair for kids. Sadly my child is now too old to take advantage of this special deal…she is too old at 16. I liked the fact that she could pick out adult frames and still get the kids price.”
  • Susan’s experience: “I have three boys in glasses as well as myself. I always get our glasses at Costco. They have good selection, good prices and great customer service. They’ll adjust our glasses with no trouble when they get bent or off kilter. Great since we’re there so often anyway. For really active boys I highly recommend “Flexon” brand glasses. The frames can be bent like a pretzel and still pop back into place (just don’t tell the kids or they’ll do it for fun). Saves a lot of time on getting them adjusted.”

Jewel

  • Kitty sends over: “At Jewel, There is $1 OYNO cat WYB 2 Heinz Chili Sauce. ALSO: Chinet Cut Crystal plates and cups are 2/$4.   There is a $1/1 in the 12-15 SS, making them only $1 each.”

Menards

  • Advice from julie: “I would recommend passing on the $1.00 deals. Most of those are regularly free after rebate.”
  • Kari O. comments: “Depending on the count the Viva napkins could be a good deal. We LOVE Viva paper towels and I got the napkins on sale for $2 and have seen them on clearance for $2. There was a coupon but it expired. I will most likely buy a couple boxes because they’re awesome.” She follows up: “I sent my husband in search of the Menard’s clearanced Viva Napkins. If anyone is wondering they’re sold out everyone except Long Grove (they have 150).”

My Coke Rewards

  • A find from grandma g: “My Coke Rewards has 12 packs for 30 pts. today and you can get 4! Great way to use your points.”
  • Cheri also emailed: “I just went to mycokerewards.com to log in some points and noticed that free 12-pack coupons are only 30 points today — and this time it didn’t limit me to one. Also diet coke 12 pack code points are doubled from now until December 20th.”

Thank you for mentioning the MyCokeRewards deal. I missed out on the deal last week and I had plenty of points.

Also I think Whole Foods will do very well at that Dom’s location in Elmhurst.

    • Samantha says

I should add that they were only using one section of freezer so it was hard to tell what the original prices of the items were because the tags didn’t match-up. The pizza, fries, Kashi frozen meals were good deals, the waffles and frozen veggies only so-so.
