A heads up for Dominick’s folks: The Planters $1.00/1 coupon from the newspaper beeps when you use it on the peanuts. In thinking back: Mine did beep, but she hit something on the register and they went through fine as scanned coupons. (And I’m pretty sure their coupons often beep when used on peanuts, for whatever reason. Maybe cause peanuts are legumes. But ANYway…)

Some of you are reporting that your Dominick’s will not let you use the coupon, claiming that the JFU discount is a manufacturer coupon that you can’t combine. Guess what, though: It’s not a coupon, it’s a price — see above. (Updated with Dom’s JFU screenshot, thanks Chris.)

The problem here is that since the coupon beeps, some stores are looking for a reason to reject it. You are NOT using the coupon incorrectly. But just a heads up that you might want to visit a Dominick’s near you that has friendly cashiers, should you have choices in your stores. The deal again is:

Load $1.99 Planters Peanuts on Just for U. Stack with $1.00/1 in the 1/27 SS, or use $1.00/2 in the 11/11 SS, 12/2 SS, or print $1.00/2 here. And, you can also print $1.00/1 here when you allow the app and send a card to a FB friend. So with a $1.99 price and a $1.00 manufacturer coupon, you are looking at $.99 Planters peanuts! Note this price will only apply in one transaction per card.

I was subjected to this rejection as well and she would only put through ONE of my 3 Planters coupon as a courtesy. So I called corporate and guess what they said? It is up to each individual store to decide to take the coupons. Well that is it, I”m done with Dominicks.

It did not work for me at the Carol Stream Dominick’s. Usually they are pretty coupon friendly but she would not budge and let me use the coupons so I left the peanuts. I did get pistachios with a price of $2.99 a bag and they were buy one get one free and I had a 50 cent coupon so I was good with that. I also stocked up on the toilet paper.

I had the same issue with a very friendly cashier at Carol Stream, however, he told me to go to C.S. to get a post-coupon redemption. Brought my receipt over after my transaction and gave me the credit; nice guy there tonight :)

    Are the printed coupons beeping?

I am going to try and price match at walmart tomorrow. I don’t know of a coupon friendly dominicks. After today I’m going to stay away. By the way fairplay has been awesome. Have yet to run into a problem the staff is great and rainchecks are good for a year.

My first three went through just fine, then the next three beeped. Fortunately, she put the other 3 in too. I thought maybe it had something to do with the varieties I bought (3 honey roasted and 3 five alarm chilli).

I have coupons beep all the time at Dominicks (and printed ones often don’t scan). They ALWAYS just put them through manually for me. This is true in both Lake Bluff and Bannockburn. I have to say that I really like everyone I’ve dealt with in both stores. JFU is a long way from perfect, but I believe the errors in my favor are about equal to the ones that go awry (lots of cheap DiGiorno pizzas in my freezer!). If I have something really off, the Customer Service desk has always resolved to my satisfaction.

Jewel, on the other hand, has become such a pain that I rarely darken their door any more. At least the registers at Dominicks beep so you know what’s happening. Jewel just takes the q and gives no or reduced value for it!

Dominicks in Naperville on 59 and 95th put through 11 of them for me and every single one beeped and without batting an eye she zipped right through.. as a cashier profiler on these iffy coupon deals I sure would have been wrong on this one…

I tried at the Oswego Store and they fought me on it…I called Dominicks 1-800 number and she tried calling the manager…He refused to listen…stating the $1.99 price was a manufactures coupon. I said…the save $.50, save $1.00 etc. are manufacturer coupons…NOT when they list a price…The customer service rep at the 1-800 said she will look into this….after calling me back…she said the manager was indeed right. In this instance the Peanuts for $1.99 is a manufactures coupon. He wouldn’t let us use a single coupon.

You’ll get a different answer depending who you talk to at Dominick’s corporate, sigh. Someone else called and was told it was OK and they’d clear it up with the store. Sorry this one is so much trouble, guys — if the coupon wasn’t beeping it wouldn’t have been an issue. :(

No apologies Rachel…didn’t mean to make you feel bad/responsible….I was just wanted to let everyone know the inconsistencies between stores…managers…and corporate…I am greatful for what you do everyday for us!!!
