Disney and Netflix sign multi-year agreement
Browsing around (yes, we do Netflix here!), streaming Disney movies I see already in there include:
- Dumbo
- The Aristocats
- The Fox and the Hound
- Alice in Wonderland.
- … and more!
If you are already a Netflix subscriber, let me know what other movies you see!
What’s up with Disney movies on Netflix?
Read more about the Netflix/Disney deal here. Of especial interest:
Netflix Inc. (Nasdaq:NFLX) and The Walt Disney Company (NYSE:DIS) today announced a new multi-year licensing agreement that will make Netflix the exclusive U.S. subscription television service for first-run live-action and animated feature films from The Walt Disney Studios.
Beginning with its 2016 theatrically released feature films, new Disney, Walt Disney Animation Studios, Pixar Animation Studios, Marvel Studios and Disneynature titles will be made available for Netflix members to watch instantly in the pay TV window on multiple platforms, including television, tablets, computers and mobile phones. Also included in the agreement are high-profile Disney direct-to-video new releases, which will be made available on Netflix starting in 2013.
Separately, Disney and Netflix have reached agreement on a multi-year catalog deal that today brings to U.S. Netflix members such beloved Disney movies such as “Dumbo,” “Pocahontas” and “Alice in Wonderland.”
!! Nice. You can sign up for your one-month Netflix free trial here and check it out for youself — it looks like they might still be adding some back catalog titles, so keep looking!
(Thanks for the heads up to Family Friendly Frugality, and to Mr. 5, who noticed Dumbo while we were in there today!)

That’s awesome. Haven’t checked it out yet, but this will definitely mean we use our netflix more.
I see the three older Tinker Bell movies. If you scroll down a bit under Watch Instantly, there is a “Recently Added” section which has a LOT of Disney kid movies in it.
I see:
Pocahontas
the Tinkerbell movies
Rescuers Down Under
The Muppet Movie
Great Mouse Detective
the “Buddy” movies (the ones about the dogs)
James and the Giant Peach
Tigger
The Nightmare Before Christmas
and a bunch of Disney original TV movies
to see what else they have, go to: “Just for Kids” and then click on “Disney”
This is excellent! I won’t be watching Dumbo though. I cannot get through that movie without an entire box of kleenex.
I’m letting my kids watch a movie during supper tonight because I was so excited to see Fox and the Hound was available.
yay Disney!
Yay. My daughter is going to be excited!
SO EXCITED ABOUT THIS!!!! I’m so sick of the Nickelodeon stuff my kids keep watching over and over on Netflix. I would love to see some more PBS stuff too.
all above plus Mater’s tall tales (Cars),Mickey Mouse clubhouse road rally,Tigger movie
