Namaste Foods — Review and Giveaway (5/12) — CLOSED
Posted at 11:50 am by rachel in allergies, giveaways, gluten freeAre these not the prettiest gluten free chocolate cupcakes you ever saw? OK, so they’re not fancy, cause we’re not fancy, but they surely were a hit!
This one is sponsored by Namaste Foods, whose products contain no wheat, gluten, corn, soy, potato, dairy, casein, tree nuts or peanuts.
And, I tried not to be swayed by the fact that they are based in beautiful Couer d’ Alene, ID — grew up right over the border in Spokane!
The review
Namaste Foods sent over gluten free cake mix and frosting mix for review. Their cake mixes give you enough to make two layers, but we made ours into gluten free chocolate cupcakes rather than cake, since we had an impending bake sale. This made 27 good-sized cupcakes, and only some of them went to the bake sale… others went into Mr. 9 and Mr. 5! It’s nice that their mixes are larger — gluten free products can be expensive, and larger bags give you more bang for your buck.
The frosting mix called just for water and margarine or butter. We used Earth Balance coconut spread, in order to keep these dairy and casein free. It turned out super sweet — somewhat too sweet for my grown-up taste buds, but a huge hit with the kids.
The chocolate-y-ness of the cupcakes, though, was right on. My two small taste testers quite approved, and I’d buy this again. Namaste Foods products are made in a dedicated facility — and are also non-GMO and Kosher.

I would like to try the pizza crust for my son. He is allergic to almost everything. I do want to add that I do find it somewhat frustrating that the allergy free mixes usually require you to add an allergy product such as butter, which is easy to substitute or egg, which is not so easy.
The sugar free muffin mix sounds really good, these are hard to find!
I would love to try to non-dairy mac and cheese!

I’d like to try the Cheezy Pasta. My doctor wants me to go dairy free. Yikes! Maybe this would help. (Hey I spent a few years growing up in Moscow, Idaho. I remember Spokane and Couer d’ Alene)
