Update — Ken’s dressing appears to be a no go at Dominick’s. I’m not sure how to blog these now, since they appear to be taking the Just for U specials that make for the best deals and choosing to make those manufacturer rather than store e-coupons.

Check it out. Ken’s, which is a special JFU deal in the yellow section of today’s ad, really appears to be a manufacturer e-coupon: It says “Save $1.00″ instead of “$1.00 off,” and if you click for details it shows a redemption address. This means you cannot stack the $1.00 coupon from the paper with it to get the dressing for free.

Other items advertised in the special yellow JFU section are either showing up as what appear to be store e-coupons or as straight prices. In the ad, for instance, I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter is showing as $2.49 minus $.50 e-coupon = $1.99. On JFU today, it’s just showing up as a straight $1.99 price. A lot of the other items — Lucerne milk, Safeway hamburger buns, 7-Up, Honey Maid — are also showing up as a straight price rather than an e-coupon per se. You can stack manufacturer paper coupons with anything that shows up as a price.

Not free

So, only the item that would have been the best deal when stacked with an insert coupon is showing up as a manufacturer e-coupon — just as they did with the Splenda and Nectresse a couple of weeks ago.

I’m not sure what to do with this when blogging the deals on Wednesdays now, if we’re not able to tell until Thursday whether these are going to be store e-coupons, prices, or manufacturer e-coupons. I apologize for posting that Ken’s would be free (and suggest waiting for a real sale at Jewel), and wanted to give you all a heads up before you go shopping today.

Thanks for the warning about the Ken’s dressing. Don’t get so frustrated though, because it’s not your fault that Dominick’s does their sales this way. And any of us who have faithfully followed your blog for awhile are well aware that anything at Dominicks can change quickly and doesn’t have to make sense. Stay warm Rachel.

No worries! Just as Patty said its not your fault Dominicks is unpredictable and who knows what could happen! Thanks for heads up :-)

Relegate Dom’s to 2nd or 3rd tier status or the pay no mind list…..they won’t be around much longer, unfortunately, for them…..seems like they are trying but whenever i go into their schaumburg store it is very empty and has a weird vibe in there, people are not buying huge carts full of groceries, just little stuff…..usually only 1 checker open / needed.

It sounds like the word got out that people were getting good deals and they decided to put an end to it. Do they want customers or not?
