This one is from The Shopper’s Apprentice, where Anna reports:
Just wanted to share with you a savings at Jewel. If I am low on cash and am at Jewel, I use my debit card to pay for my groceries and select the option of getting cash back. For example, if my grocery purchases are $30 and I want $20 back in cash, I use my debit card for a total of $50 in transactions. Since my total purchase is over $50, I earn $.05/gallon in Fuel Rewards. It’s a win win for me….I get my groceries, cash (don’t have to drive to the bank), and get a discount on fuel while not having to purchase $50 in groceries. Maximum debit amount at Jewel is $100 (earn $.10/gallon).
I didn’t know it gave credit for cash back — that, is interesting!

I worked at Jewel up until about 7-8 months ago and I don’t recall that being true–possible it changed though.
Hmm… that’s interesting. I’ve never actually tried this, anyone else?
Does it work for Discover card?
I have no idea. I don’t know if it even works for debit for sure, since I haven’t tried it, just reporting what she said
. If you try it, let us know!
It really doesn’t make sense that could work because you are getting money back. That would be like handing them a $50 bill and getting change, and then expecting to get credit for a $50 sale. If it works, it’s a glitch in their system for sure.
