Kate commented earlier that she found a $2.00/1 Oscar Mayer Carving Board coupon in her email from Kraft First Taste, inspiring me to go check my long-neglected Hotmail account. Yup, me too! Check your email to see if they emailed you one too, if you are a member. So, off to Jewel. The Lombard Jewel, by the way, did have the freezers marked down to $99.99 if you are in the market.

Picked up:

10 Brown ‘N Serve sausage, $8.00 after instant savings when you buy 10.
2 Oscar Mayer Carving Board lunch meat, $7.38. Used two $2.00/1 printables from Kraft First Taste and $2.00/2 store coupon from the Thursday 2/28 Jewel ad.

Paid $9.61 and got back a $1.00 Catalina from Oscar Mayer. Net cost: $8.61.

Then, Mr. 6 and I popped into the new Lombard Goodwill to check it out. This may be the exact same TV we had growing up, except ours was missing a knob and you had to turn it with pliers!

Ended up with nine books for the kids, which rang up $.59 each — which was a pleasant surprise, since the hardcovers were supposed to be more. Paid $5.75. Out of pocket for the day, $15.36, and net cost, $14.36.

Yay! Yeah– I just realized that the deal is better than I even said because of the $1 OYNO. Glad you did it and I could see that before I went! :) Great.

I buy books for my kids at Goodwill all the time. At the store in Naperville children’s books are always 59 cents. The higher price for hardcover books only applies to books for grown ups. :)

Awesome. They had the sign with the higher prices right over the kids books and no separate sign for kids — I haven’t had a Goodwill near me in years, so didn’t know. We will be back :)

If you haven’t already, sign up for the free Club Goodwill card. If your purchase goes over $20 you get an extra 5% off your purchase. Every Sunday and Monday the ‘color’ of that day is 50% off. On the 15th of every month if you are a Club Goodwill member you will get a scratch off ticket that is 10%, 15% or 20% off your purchase. And these %’s off can be combined (eg if it’s scratch off ticket day and your purchase is over $20 then you would get the extra 5% and whatever your scratch off card discount was). Can you tell I am a Goodwill Shopper? :)

I LOVE Goodwill! I find so many good deals there! I donate children’s coats, hats, and gloves/mittens to an organization and I can find them so cheap there and in good shape if I look hard enough. Also, on Wednesday’s, seniors 55+ get 20% off…works for me!

  4. Debbie says:

And watch for color of the week…those items are 50% off!

  5. Silvia says:

Found 4 packs of AA Energizer batteries at the Huntley Jewel in there clearance section for .99 cents on a cardboard stand! Tons left! The signs says 1.49 but rang up at .99

  6. Matt says:

If you’re at the Good Will and you’re looking for a used TV, you should always read the back of the TV as the back of the TV will tell you the month and year it was manufactured. Usually the best TVs made after 2000 will have 2 to 4 inputs for video devices. Some of the original HDTVs were the heavy kind as well.

  7. Ginny says:

Ha ha ha, Rachel! We had a TV that had pliers as well. It also had a giant roll of aluminum foil on the antenna to help with reception. Good times, man. ;)

  8. phyllis says:

Does anyone else know of price reductions on the Jewel freezers? I am in the market for one for my mother in law.

  9. linda says:

Ultra is selling GE freezers for $149 and my jewel has continental electric ( a brand I’ve never heard of) for $99. Anyone have any advice on which one is a better freezer?
