Every time I show up at McDonald’s with a coupon, they are always fine about accepting it, but the regular employees never seem to know what to do with coupons, and need to call over a manager. How much time would it take them to educate their employees?!

Linda, many of the coupons require a manager’s approval. It’s just their policy. McDonald’s is not immune to coupon fraud. A while ago, a coupons.com type printable was available with unique numbers. I personally discovered multiple copies of the same coupon while I was processing them at the corporate headquarters. Just like in the retail world, those restaurants (stores) are not getting compensated for the fraudulent coupons. And while many people think McD’s is big enough to absorb things like that, remember that many of the stores are independently owned. Even if they are not, there is a manager at a company owned store who has to account for and go without compensation for this fraudulent coupon. My point here, the managers want to be involved with the acceptance of the coupons to do what they can to protect themselves.
