This is interesting. I went in Dominick’s Just for U this morning, and the e-coupons in the special yellow section of the ad are now just showing as prices rather than $ off coupons. So, for instance:
The advertised Nathan’s Famous beef franks or Angus Smoked beef sausage, $3.99 minus $1.00 e-coupon = $2.99 now just becomes Nathan’s Famous, $2.99. So what I’m wondering, is if they’ve really changed them to load as a pricel rather than $ off, to prevent us from getting a better deal than advertised? In the past, when we have had a better personalized or Deal Match price, the $ off was coming off our better price as a store e-coupon. Now, if it’s just loading as a price instead of as an e-coupon for $ off, we can’t play that game anymore.

This is precisely why Dominick’s is at the bottom of my list of grocery stores. Jewel is down there with them.
I shop at Dominick’s just four times a year to get just the basics and spend no more than $20 because I got fed up with the:
- bait & switch games
- the anti-coupon games
- low/no stock
- exorbitant prices
- being charged incorrect price(s)
- nearly expired/expired food
- customer service desk staff who makes you feel as if you just wanted into the People’s Court
It is such an aggravating experience. Why & how is Dominick’s still around with this kind of business model?
that is: ‘walked’ into the People’s Court.
I totally agree with you on the customer service!
Exactly! I haven’t been back in months. JFU is still super buggy and I don’t have the time or patience to deal with rude customer service every time I shop there.
This is why their stores are slowly disappearing .
they did it with DR. Pepper too.. .49 is still good though.. and I need to stock up!
Dominicks is my favorite grocery store! I shop at Gurnee, and their customer service ladies are wonderful!!!! They are super nice and friendly. The Gurnee store does not have a problem with expired.
I choose Dominick’s over Jewel any day of the week! Their deals are so much better than Jewel. I shop at their Frankfort store. Yes, the JFU is buggy, but I never have a problem getting a refund from the customer service department. Their CS staff are awesome! It must be a pain for them to be constantly refunding money because their JFU program doesn’t work correctly, but they are always nice about it. And it’s true that sometimes they don’t have enough stock on hand, but that generally happens when something is on sale at a very low price — and I find that most stores run out of stock when popular items are on sale. I just get a rain check, and Dominick’s rain checks are good for 90 days.
Ditto on great servIce at Gurnee Dominick’s! I recently moved across town, but I still drive over there to shop.
