I stopped over by Dominick’s today to pick up the better-than-free Alexia, and thought I’d see if the little 10-ct Fiber Choice was working there. Yup! And it was priced at $2.29, so even a bit more of a money maker than at Jewel. Again, the deal is: Buy one Fiber Choice, get $4.00 OYNO through 2/15. This is currently working on the little tubes, but they may very well shut that off at any time, so I’d try this today if you’re going to do it.

I left some on the shelf for the next person at the Downers Grove Dominick’s on Ogden this morning, and then stopped by the Glen Ellyn Dominick’s on the way to FedEx an iPad ;) this afternoon, where they don’t appear to carry it — so this won’t be something you’ll necessarily find in all stores. If you’re going for Alexia today, though, it’s surely worth a look!

This was kind of fun — almost like the old days! Eight transactions later…

Transaction one

Fiber Choice 10 ct, $2.29.
Two Alexia potatoes, $4.98 with in-ad coupon. Used two $2.50/1 printables (no longer available).

Paid $2.31 and got back a $5.00 Catalina — $4.00 for Fiber Choice and $1.00 for Alexia.

Transaction two

Fiber Choice 10 ct, $2.29.
Two Alexia potatoes, $4.98 with in-ad coupon. Used two $2.50/1 printables (no longer available).
Safeway bleach, $2.19.

Paid with $4.00 Catalina and $.68. Got back $5.00 — $4.00 for Fiber Choice and $1.00 for Alexia.

Transactions three and four were the same

Silk almond milk, $3.29. Used $.55/1 blinkie.
Fiber Choice, $2.29.

Paid with $5.00 in Catalinas and $.13 in cash. Got back $4.00 for Fiber Choice.

Transactions five, six, and seven were the same

Soy Dream “ice cream,” $3.29. Used $1.00/1 printable.
Fiber Choice, $2.29.

Paid with $4.00 Catalina and $.68. Got back $4.00 for Fiber Choice.

Transaction eight

Safeway bleach, $2.19.
Fiber Choice, $2.29.

Paid with $4.00 Catalina and $.70 in cash. Got back $4.00 for Fiber Choice.

So I spend out of pocket $5.99 and ended up with a $4.00 Catalina, for a net cost of $1.99 for all of the above. And then… I found a $5.00 Catalina sticking out of self checkout! So, of course, I took it. And that turned the trip into a little money maker.

how many transactions at each store and did you do self checkout for all?

  2. rachel says:

One store. I did a couple at the register and the rest at self checkout, but it really doesn’t matter — the $4.00 coupon won’t scan without intervention at self checkout because it is too high of a value.

Did your Alexia coupons beep? Mine did. Did you get your Alexia JFU price on every bag? Mine only came off of one bag. The other bag was 3.00. Still a MM, but I couldn’t figure out why it didn’t come off the other one. I had the worst nightmare at Dominick’s yesterday. The Alexia and Planter’s coupons all beeped and it had the cashier in a tizzy. Why does this always freak out cashiers at Dominick’s? I only had 2 peanuts and 2 Alexia potatoes! It shouldn’t be so hard for her to figure out with there being only 4 items! The manager had to come over to address the situation. Ayi yi yi.

The Alexia coupons beeped, but I figured they would since they were over the price of the item. I used the in-ad coupon rather than loading on JFU because I don’t trust JFU, and if there is a paper alternative, I will use it. So for my two Alexia transactions I ripped out two paper coupons from their in-store ads. Were all the Alexia you got potatoes? The $2.49 was only on potatoes not on their other sides, so that could be why.

I got one sweet potato fries and one of the same type of potatoes that you got. I think I’m going to stick with your idea – paper coupons! Thanks for your reply. :-)

Thanks for this post. I did 4 at the self checkout and used $1.50 and $2. Cats to pay from last weeks Campbells and floss? (I think) to pay and they didn’t have to intervene except when one didn’t trigger the sensor that the coupon went in the slot. Paid a few bucks after my cats and got back $16. for my 4 transactions.

Also when I got out of my car to go in the store… the wind whipped my door open and slammed it into the car next to me, which was a Dom employee and she was in the car. Thankfully it hit a bend in her car where it didn’t dent but chipped it. I scared her, it scared me since it totally flew out of my hands… thank you to that wonderful nice lady for not making me feel like an idiot, I waited for her to get out of the car to take a look and she just flagged me away to go. :-)

So be careful if you are out there shopping tonight it is WINDY!!!
