Things to know at Dominick’s

Just a few things to know:

  1. Dominick’s does not let you use a coupon on the “free” item in a buy one, get one free sale. They also have now decided that they won’t let you use a BOGO coupon on a BOGO sale to get both items for free.
  2. Many Dominick’s will only let you use one OYNO Catalina per transaction. Most no longer take Catalinas or  Register Rewards from other stores unless they are for a specific item. Their official policy says no.
  3. Sign up for Just for U for additional e-coupons and “personalized savings.” You can no longer use paper coupons with JFU e-coupons. Although sometimes they randomly go through.
  4. Just for U common questions and answers here.
  5. Link to whatever the current coupon policy might be, here.
  6. If you shop at Safeway, Vons, Genuardi’s, or another Safeway affiliate, your prices may differ from those shown here, but Catalina deals are 90% the same. Dominick’s in Illinois no longer allows the stacking of manufacturer e-coupons with paper manufacturer coupons, and neither do many Safeways — they’re phasing it out as they roll out Just for U in your area.
  7. Dominick’s, unlike Jewel, gives individual stores tremendous leeway about coupon policies, so you will not see consistency between stores, and not all stores follow the official policy.

I have been waiting for Quaker oatmeal to go on BOGO for a couple of months now. My price was $2.79, but of course it expires TODAY! I hope I get it again.

If anyone is buying Bud or Bud Light, look for coupons taped to cases of beer for $2 off any Doritos, so you can get 1 for free this week.

  2. Robin says

I found MQ at Jewel today for 0.75/1 any Morning Star Farms product on a display cooler near the cheese section. Not sure what the Morning Star Farms prices are, but these might stack nicely with that 30% off store coupon!

  3. Rachel R says

I just went to load new specials on JFU but they are not there again this week. Anyone else have the same problem. Is Thursday morning at 7:35

    • susie says

Same here, I went to load it on both mine and my mom’s card, and we both don’t have it. We only have a few new personalized prices. I came on here to check if anyone else is having the same issue.

  4. lauraC says

Has anyone hear whether Dominick’s is going to have the game day coupon booklets again this year? I noticed in this ad they are using the same marketing/advertising files that were used with the booklets last year. Those books had some great coupons.

  5. Erin says

I went to Dominicks this morning to get my “hot offers” I could not load at home, so I figured I would just do it there with their computers. IT IS NOT THERE! The customer service desk has to call and manually add each offer. And even then it is not gauranteed to even work! I had to checkout at CS. I would wait until tomorrow unitl they have this glitch cleared up. AARRGGG!

  6. Coupon Cutie says

ALSO, showing 6 beverages of which quilted northern, Red Roma Tomatoes and Reynolds Wrap make of 3 of the 6. Now that’s a stretch…

  7. ellen says

The $1 Motts coupons that printed around Veterans Day (from the Believe in Heroes website) expire 1/15- so you might be able to use those to get .99 apple juice!

  8. Kristy says

I’m pretty sure that I’m done with Dominick’s. It’s not just that the Just “F” U stuff almost never works, or that they treat some customers better by giving them better deals, or that their CS is just horrible.

The last straw for me is this week I went to get a gallon of milk from our deep freezer. Both the gallons I bought from Dominick’s last month had split open. In 20+ years of freezing milk, my family has NEVER had a gallon break open, ever. The expansion panels (those circle dent things on the sides) have always allowed enough room for the freezing milk to expand. Dominick’s Pantry Essentials brand milk does not have those expansion panels.

I only lost about a cup of milk between the two, but that’s enough that it’s not worth all the headaches from the JFU and poor CS. And now I feel bad for anyone else who read my recommendation and stuck a bunch of Dominick’s milk in their freezer and lost some. Ugh.

    • says

Pantry Essentials is junk. It’s their low-end brand, like Shopper’s Value is Jewel’s low-end brand. Even on the milk sales I was paying the $.30 more or whatever for Lucerne, cause, ick. :( Sorry your milk broke!

(And although I was pleased by the cheap beans today, I’m totally with you on the unfairness of personalized deals — they’re frustrating and thwart the sharing of info.)
