There’s a new voluntary recall from Purina and Milo’s Kitchen on certain dog treats products:

Two makers of pet treats are pulling products from the market because they may contain traces of poultry antibiotics that aren’t approved in the U.S.

Nestle Purina PetCare is taking Waggin’ Train and Canyon Creek Ranch brand dog treats off the market, while Milo’s Kitchen is recalling its Chicken Jerky and Chicken Grillers home-style dog treats.

Read more at the Washington Post here. And specifically on Milo’s Kitchen from PR Newswire here, which says that customers who discard the treats can get a refund and “Consumers with questions about Milo’s Kitchen products can get further information at 1-877-228-6493.” And on Waggin Train and Canyon Creek Ranch here: “For product refund or more information call our Office of Consumer Affairs at 1-800-982-0704 or go to www.waggintrainbrand.com.”

i called petco in bloomingdale and they have pulled all these treats and i took all mine back for a refund. i originally paid like 3.00 per bag for the canyon creek with q and i got refunded the full price . worked out well for me. i usually check everything i buy for my lab cause i never buy any dog food or treats made in china or japan but i didnt check these. the regulations in asia are alot lower than ours and they often contain things not approved here , likr in this case .

I own 2 cats. I also check the labels of both food and treats, and I stay away from anything made in China. I stopped trusting Chinese food products since the melamine in the pet food incident. I know it goes against the couponing that we do here, but I buy USA-made food for my cats whether a coupon is available or not.

Same here…my dogs’ health is more important to me than price. No China made products for them….even a lot of US made products are not suitable, in my opinion.

Thanks for letting us know- I was giving my pup the milo’s kitchen jerky. :(

I called the number and you get a recording on how to get your refund directly from Waggin Train. Hopefully you will receive a check in the mail!

It is a voluntary recall and I think it speaks volumes for this company. Only the chicken jerky is recalled not the dog or cat foods.

All dog owners beware: besides the few produt names being recalled you should also avoid “Vitality” brand chicken jerky treats, aka, Happy Hips! Simply put ANY dog treats “made in china” on the back label WILL KILL ur dog, as they did mine. I’m 100% “Made in USA” & my remaining dog pack has been healthy since. BTW, the FDA has lost ALL credibility since they did absolutely nothing as thousands of dogs died since 2010. They’re another ineffective gov’t agency that your tax dollars are wasted on.
