What to know at CVS

If you’re new to CVS, ECB stands for “Extra (Care) Bucks.” Here’s what to remember:

  1. ECB are store coupons and can only be used at CVS. They are also tied to your own CVS card, so if you get an ECB or store coupon that prints out at the price scanner or register, it will only work for your card.
  2. Always scan your card at their in-store price scanner, because bonus coupons print out there when you do so. Keep scanning until it says no coupons available, because sometimes it prints more than one set.
  3. Sign up for their ExtraCare emails with your card number and you’ll get a bonus 20% off printable coupon, plus random emailed coupons throughout the year.
  4. At CVS, % off coupons and $/$$ store coupons can be used before any other coupons. % off coupons are always on non-sale prices only.
  5. ECB always roll, meaning you can use them on any other ECB-generating item and they’ll still generate new ECB.
  6. Limits listed in the ad are per card.
  7. View and print the CVS coupon policy here.

I just looked at my receipt more closely – I was wrong, I got $4. I did not get the $4 for the Crest Pro-Health I bought because I got the wrong size. Ha ha, back to CVS for me. :)

  1. Patty says

Used a rain check for 2 Secret Clinical for $4 each and my $3 coupons, and received the $2 ECB! Free Secret! Charmin isn’t limit 2, as I purchased 3 and all rang up 9.99. Added another single roll to meet SavingsStar $30 and had a $4/$20 (emailed) to burn. Fun at CVS this morning!

  2. Julie says

Check your magic coupon machine coupons for a $4/15 Huggins for an even better deal. We prefer pampers, but couldn’t pass up this deal.

    • says

It doesn’t really matter, but I always do manufacturer coupons first. Sometimes things ring up differently and my total is different than expected, so I’d rather use coupons first and then pay the difference in ECB. If you use the ECB first and your total drops too low, then sometimes you wouldn’t be able to use the MQs if you go negative.

  3. Sarah says

I was really excited today to find the DermaSilk wrinkle eraser pen for $19.99 at the CVS store by my work at lunch today! Used the $10 man. q from the DermaSilk website, and it was free after ECB! On the way home, I stopped by the CVS store by my house to look for a couple other deals and saw at least 4 wrinkle eraser pens on the shelf (maybe more). So, it could be worth looking for it this week. I’ve looked and looked for it in the past with no success, but it seems like it could be worth a shot if your stores are stocked up like mine were.

I find DermaSilk wrinkle eraser pen in Downers Grove (6210 Main St) yesterday. They had a good supply of them. :)
