What to know at CVS

If you’re new to CVS, ECB stands for “Extra (Care) Bucks.” Here’s what to remember:

  1. ECB are store coupons and can only be used at CVS. They are also tied to your own CVS card, so if you get an ECB or store coupon that prints out at the price scanner or register, it will only work for your card.
  2. Always scan your card at their in-store price scanner, because bonus coupons print out there when you do so. Keep scanning until it says no coupons available, because sometimes it prints more than one set.
  3. Sign up for their ExtraCare emails with your card number and you’ll get a bonus 20% off printable coupon, plus random emailed coupons throughout the year.
  4. At CVS, % off coupons and $/$$ store coupons can be used before any other coupons.
  5. ECB always roll, meaning you can use them on any other ECB-generating item and they’ll still generate new ECB.
  6. Limits listed in the ad are per card.
  7. View and print the CVS coupon policy here.

I went today to try and use my raincheck for Dove Men’s soap from a few weeks ago and they tell me they don’t carry it anymore. Great! The Qs expire tomorrow and I didn’t get them in any other store when they were on sale, thinking I’ll get them at CVS.

I also went to the Dollar Tree and for the first time picked up the Olay bars with Qs, but I’m not sure it’s a correct thing to do. The Qs say for One Olay bath bar, and the soap at Dollar Tree says it’s an Olay Beauty bar. What do you think?

    • rachel says:

Well, I went on their site and I don’t see anything called a bath bar? lol

      http://www.olay.com/Bar-Soap

There are beauty bars and body bars. So your guess is as good as mine.

    • Nancy says:

If the clerk at Dollar Tree let you do it, then it’s fine. Here in Florida, the Dollar Tree clerks are coupon nazis. They stop the line, dump everything out of the bags, and go through every item one by one to make sure the package sizes match what the coupons say.

Most of the time, I’m fine with that, because I watch the fine print. But recently, they refused to take several Colgate coupons that specified a 4 ounce minimum. Why? Because the 4.2 ounce tubes I selected were really 3.5 ounce “bonus” tubes that contained 20% extra. To me, they were 4.2 ounce tubes (total weight clearly stipulated on label), which should have met the requirement. To Dollar Tree, they were evidence that I was a thief who was trying to steal from them. If I didn’t have 15 minutes of my time invested in that shopping trip, I would have walked out and left all of the items sitting on the conveyor belt where the cashier dumped them. I was literally so mad I could have spit.

  2. Suzann says:

CVS is ending their green bag tag program later this year and you
can no longer purchase the tags(per Southern Savers). Quote looking at
programs that will have a better green impact- code speak for this is
    hurting our margins!!

  3. Samantha says:

For the Carmex deal, the lotion is listed online @ $5.99. That should trigger the ECB, correct?

  4. KeeKee says:

Just did this deal here in Chicago on the south side, bought 3 Neutrogena men’s razor defense shave gel on clearance for $1.49ea 3 acne bar soap $3.19ea 3 original soap $3.29ea total $20.62 used 4 $2/5 new total .62 plus $1.91 tax, paid $2.53 somehow got back $5 ECB so I’m really not sure what triggered the ECB
