Change Facebook settings — so everyone doesn’t see everythingPosted at 2:35 pm by rachel in advice, apps, facebook
A couple of you have been hesitant to use Ibotta and other apps because you don’t want to broadcast everything you buy to your Facebook friends. Kim commented that she was able to go on Facebook and change her settings to avoid this, so here’s how you do it!
First, head over to Facebook and go in your Account Settings from the drop-down menu under the little asterisk thing on the top right, as shown above.
Now, choose “Apps” from the menu on the left-hand side.
Scroll down to the bottom of that page, and click “show all apps.” (By the way — if you want to permanently delete any of these apps, just click the “x” on the right hand side of the screen after each.)
Scroll down to the app you want to change, and click “Edit” on the right-hand side. (If you have trouble finding it in the list, hit Ctrl-F to pop up a search box on the bottom left to search for it on the screen.)
Where it says “Posts on your behalf: Public,” click the drop down arrow and switch to “Only Me.”
Now, click “Close” over on the right-hand side.
Refresh the page (Ctrl-R) and you should see that your selected app now says “Only Me.” This means that only you will see posts it makes to Facebook, and you won’t annoy your friends with the fact that you bought Frosted Flakes at CVS today and got money back from Ibotta.
