Cauliflower tasty bites — a recipe with a sad lack of precision
Posted at 2:30 pm by rachel in recipesSo a couple weeks ago I made this smoky roasted cauliflower recipe from a magazine, to which our main objection was that it was too bland. So today I decided to kick it up a notch — BAM!
Cauliflower tasty bites
Ingredients
One whole head of cauliflower, broken into florets (and I chopped the big ones into smaller pieces so everything was more even).
Generous dollop of jarred minced garlic. I’m going to say at least a couple teaspoons.
olive oil
hot paprika — shake enough on to cover everything with red.
cumin
curry powder
seasoned salt
red pepper flakes
Directions
Preheat oven to 450. While oven is heating, spray bottom of large Pyrex rectangular baker with cooking spray. Add cauliflower. Drizzle with olive oil and toss. Add minced garlic, toss. Add all other spices to taste — I was generous with the paprika and seasoned salt, and a bit less so with the others. Toss. Bake til nicely browned — mine went a total of 32 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Sorry about the inexact measurements — this was kind of an experiment! These came out slightly spicy, and pretty good. I’m not a huge cauliflower fan and I liked it — probably because roasting changes the flavor and then there was enough spice that it wasn’t super cauliflower-y.

Here’s another good one.
2/3 c freshly grated parmesan
1/2 tsp ground cumin
1/4 tsp cayenne pepper, or to taste
S & P to taste.
2 eggs, beaten
1/2 large cauliflower broken into pieces
Oven 450, spray cookie sheet with oil. (I use parchment)
Combine cheese and spices. Dredge cauliflower in egg, then in cheese. Put on cookie
sheet, spray with oil. Says to serve with parsley and lemon, but I never do.
This almost tastes like deep fried cauliflower! Bake about 20 min
Ooh yum. Yeah, parmesan makes a lot of the cauliflower recipes better — I was trying to make one Mr. dairy-free 10 could eat, though, I should have mentioned!
Another suggestion; Use one of those Fresh Takes Kraft kits and instead of using meat, use a veggie (like cauliflower)
I like the above posters idea of dunking in egg and then shake them in the bag to coat w/ the bread/cheese mixture. You could make some without the cheese part for Mister dairy free. Just add extra seasoned salt instead of the cheese to his. I have made this with potatoes before except did not use eggs.
