Costco

  • From Laura: “Just got a letter from Costco today stating that they are turning the Bedford Park store into a Costco Business Center. Apparently there are only 9 others like it in the country. Basically, they will gear the merchandise to cater to small business. Their hours will change to Mon-Fri 7am-6pm Saturday 7a-4pm and Sundays Closed. It states that 70% of their current selection will change. They will be taking out Apparel & Jewelry, Consumer Electronics, Seasonal Goods, Fresh meat and rotisserie chicken, Bakery & Service deli, Photo Center, Pharmacy, Optical, and Hearing Aid center, and tire center. Not sure if I will like it or not. It’s also strange because as far as Illinois is concerned, it’s was one of the first Costco’s put in here. I guess Orland park will have to get my business on the regular.”
  • And Sabrina comments about the Costco gluten free deals, including Udi’s: “Lisa, we have had tons of the small Udi loaves turn out with huge holes. It especially stinks when you try to make French toast. I agree that since it’s so costly they should fix this issue. I’ll tick to buying the bigger loaves at Costco for sure. My Costco also was selling for $8.99 gluten free black bean “spaghetti” noodles. I bought a box but haven’t tried them yet.”
  • On that black bean pasta, Mandy notes: “They just had black bean pasta on Dr. Oz. They said to make sure you don’t over cook it. They tried 3 diff. gf pasta’s and all thought the black bean to be the best.”

Jewel

  • If you’re looking at the clearance Cuties at Jewel, Kitty comments: “I bought some of the Cuties, and even tho they didn’t look or feel great, they were pretty good. I figured I’d take them back if they were terrible.”
  • And from peaches: “I was at the Jewel on Chicago Avenue in Evanston last night, and I had to go through the pile, but I finally found a box of oranges that weren’t bad for $3.99. There were a few bags that were leaking when I lifted them up. They also had a huge pile of cuties at 10:30 last night. I’ve eaten two of them so far, and they were passable.. The Heritage navels I bought at Jewel for $3.99 a bag weren’t bad..”
  • Shandelle shares some MyMixx madness — did this happen to anyone else? “The Johnsonville sausages and free eggs deal rings up a bit wonky FYI. So online I swore the verbiage on the ecoupon for the free eggs in My Mixx said good for ANY free Jewel brand dozen eggs up to $2.29. So I was like I’ll get jumbos! The cashier scanned 2 packs of the fully cooked breakfast sausages and the dozen jumbo Jewel eggs. Instead of the $1.50/2 ecoupon AND the free eggs coming off, it took off $2 as “free item” twice.. the jumbos were priced $2.19 so that isn’t free and the ecoupon was only supposed to be for $1.50 so I just rolled with it. My brother is visiting and signed up for a My Mixx so I could do the deal twice. We went to get large eggs instead of jumbos, since large were $1.99 vs $2.19. But for transaction 2 using his account, the cashier scanned 2 packs of sausages and the $2 “free item” ecoupon came off without even scanning the eggs! So then she scanned the eggs and the same $2 off “free item” came off again. I handed her a paper coupon for $1.50/2 from the 2/8 SS and it scanned without issue. So that transaction cost only $2.64. Ummm ok??”
  • Also from Shandelle: “Also I want to remind everyone that for the same Johnsonville deal, if you purchase the fully cooked breakfast sausages and use Jingit, they’re offering $1 back for checking in at Jewel and scanning the barcode and another $2 for actually buying it. And Jingit does allow you to cash out for any amount to a linked bank account. No waiting around to accrue. I took these sausages to work and they’re really good and super convenient to have at the office along with my oatmeal.”
  • Kelly comments: “On the Scarlett grapefruit, The Jewel in North Wheaton has the 5lb bags on sale for $2.99. Be careful, though, they are mixed in with 8lb bags that are NOT on sale. Also did the Johnsonville/egg deal. Bought 2 fully cooked sausages ($6) and 1 large egg ($1.48). . My Mixx deducted $1.48 for eggs and $2 for sausages. Then I used $1 off 2 Q. So got all 3 items for $3.”
  • On the clearance Jewel ice cream ellen mentioned yesterday, she follows up with: “i forgot to mention that i got a $1.50 catalina from unilever when i bought the ice cream. not sure what items qualified.” Anyone know the Catalina details?
  • Laura found a new coupon: “New Save $1 on any Wild Harvest cereal coupon on the Wild Harvest Organic Facebook page. Offer available to print until 3/20/15.” In the Chicago area, Jewel carries Wild Harvest.

Meijer

  • From Kitty: “The Niles Meijer has raspberries for 4/$5 and some of them were Driscolls so 25c each with $1 coupon.”
  • And if you do head to Meijer, Jovandi comments on Facebook to look out for: “Lots of clearance throughout the store.”

Target

  • Melissa had asked about the Colgate Target deal, and Juan Ra. replies: “…be sure you grab the ones Optic White “Express White”, those are the one that produce the G.C.”
  • And Kelly confirms: “On the Colgate Optic White, the Wheaton Target did not have the $5 gift card posted on the main toothpaste aisle, but right around the corner in the back, they had an endcap with the toothpaste and $5 gift card deal posted. I bought them and it worked fine.”

Valli Produce

  • Susan spotted another deal: “Also, Imported Krakus Polish Ham $3.44lb”

Walgreens

  • A find from Kelly: “Also, at Walgreens this week, they have Fubble Bubble Wands in the seasonal aisle for $1.00. BUT, if you use your Register REwards card, the price drops to $.59. That is not posted anywhere on the sign nor is it in their weekly ad. That’s the best price I’ve ever seen them at.”

Whole Foods

  • From peaches: “It’s the Original Brat Han’s sausage that is on sale for $2.99. I’ve bought it before at WF, and it is good. It is normally at least $5.99, and so that is a really good deal.. I’ve only had the chicken sausage, but they have other kinds too. They occasionally have coupons for it in the Whole Deal book too, but I don’t know if there are any right now.”
  • A followup plus a question from peaches: “I just checked the latest Whole Deal book, and the Original Brat Han.s is not in there. The coupon book is a lot smaller, and so I don’t know if they have as many coupons, or if they just made the coupons smaller. I just counted them, and there are 39 coupons in the latest one, including a $1 one for Alexia, and a $.75 one for Celestial Seasonings. Has anybody seen Celestial Seasonings herb tea on sale anywhere? It is on sale at Jewel right now, but it is still $2.99. which is more than I am willing to spend. I am also open to other herb teas too. Last year I got some bigelow ginger tea on clearance, but I am almost out, and I have not seen any holiday herb tea on clearance.”
