Here are some of the deals (and heads up!) YOU found recently — Thanks! How do you share your own deal?

  • Email Rachel: rachel@mashupmom.com.
  • Comment on any post where it seems to fit.
  • Post on the Facebook Wall.

If you are sharing a deal from another site or an online coupon, please include the link. If you found a deal at a specific store, please include the location.

Heads Up

  • From Anne on What Anti Virus do you guys use, “Last evening, we discovered we had a backdoor Trojan that our antivirus (McAfee) never caught.  After researching, it appears that most antivirus programs are not catching it.  It disguised itself as a “Google Chrome” process (there were 12 of them running), and, after having the computer act goofy on and off for a month and our AV never detecting anything, I realized we did not have Google Chrome installed.  We apparently let it in on Black Friday while scouting out the deals, so everyone might want to be on the lookout for it on your own machines :-)  We think it’s gone, but are not sure.  It is NASTY.”

Meijer

  • Feelgood sent a deal, “Saw a Kraft dressing display in the produce section at Meijer. Sign on the side of the display read: $2.00 off produce when you buy 2 Kraft dressings, 1/11/15 until 1/31/15, limit one per transaction. I was getting 2 Kraft dressings anyway, added a $2.50 pint of blueberries to my cart. $2.00 came off at the register after I scanned the blueberries”
  • Feelgood and Valentina found a use for the So Delicious Coupon. So Delicious Yogurt cups at Meijer for $1.59.

Online Shopping

  • From seachicago on the 5 pack of Opi nail polish $19.99 shipped, “Good deal for OPI, but wanted to share what I read in Consumer Reports ShopSmart magazine last month: OPI & Sally Hansen are made by the same company! A few others brands that share parent companies (with each other, not with OPI): Nexxus & Tresemme; La Prairie & Nivea; Kiehl’s & Garnier. Apparently, the ingredients in their products can be very similar. The magazine also suggests comparing ingredients, and if the first 5 are the same, the product is probably pretty similar (drugstore.com often list ingredients): one example they give is MAC Studio Fix Fluid foundation ($27) v. L’Oreal True Match Super Blendable Makeup ($10).

Reader Requests

  • Mindy reports, “I posted last week looking for a deal on an indoor water park and last night we stumbled on a 48 hr sale at Timber Ridge in lake Geneva! (You have to expand the options for rooms, and 48hr sale is one of the options) It ends tomorrow. We got a room for the first wknd of spring break for $109 the first night and $149 the second night. Can cancel up to 3 days in advance for full refund.”
  • From Elizabeth, “If you are going for the first time sign your kids up for their kids club. They’ll get a welcome gift. I’ve gone with my 2and 6 years olds. They love it. The tube slide is 48″ to go by themselves or they can go with an adult. They body slide is 48″+ only. No outside food allowed in the pool area, only bottled water. Watch out for the game room. It eats money quickly. They usually have special activities going on. At bingo you can win prizes, like gift cards for the game room”
  • Jessica asks, “Anybody have any codes or coupons for Grizzly Jacks in Utica??”
  • Karen asks, “not sure where to post this, but does anyone know of a discount or coupon for discover the dinasours exhibit at rosemont this weekend? my grandson wants to go for his birthday special day with grandma and it’s pretty expensive!”

Target

  • Hanneke on the Barilla Pasta Deal, “Just picked some up at .89c a box! So .90 for all ten after coupons and gift card! Awesome deal!”
  • April adds, “You can also use $1/2 coupons from 1.4 RP. If someone has 5 coupons it can be a much better deal. I only had 2 of them, so used 2 printables $1/3 and 2 from inserts. Came about 27c per box after gift card. Barilla was actually $1.11 in Lombard”
  • Harry comments, “I tried using 5 $1/2 coupons from the 1/4 RP last week.  The Target coupon policy says “Limit of 4 identical coupons per household, per day (unless otherwise noted on coupon).”  The coupon doesn’t say anything about a limit, but my cashier would only let me use 4 of the $1/2 coupons.  So YMMV.”

The Children’s Place

  • Laura says, “The childrens place in oakbrook is closing, eveything is 70 percent off. The final day Is the 24th.  They were not picked over at all tons of stuff. I bought pjs for around $4. Jeans for $5.50 and some boys dress shirts for $5.”

Tony’s

Walmart

  • Valentina found this deal, “Tabasco sauce 2 oz. on rollback for $1.00. $1.00/1 MQ from 1/4/15 RP with Feelgood Family on the front.”

Kellogg’s Rewards

  • And Kari has this comment on Organic raw Chia seeds $8.64 a pound — or less!, “I ordered this last month for $7 after coupon and 15% s&s, but it arrived really beat up and with a hole. It was small, less than half inch, but those darn tiny seeds were EVERYWHERE. I contacted Amazon to ask for another bag and instead they refunded me. Now I’m scared to try them in the future. Some snowy moisture caused the seeds to sprout….. Yuck.”

Reader Deals

  • More on gardening from Pam, “Both my husband and myself do veggies (him) & flowers (me) by seed every year.  We purchased the plastic trays from green house megastore on-line a few years ago & are still reusing the little cells, trays & covers.  Seeds we get from burpee, park seed for flowers and my hubby gets his heirloom veggie seeds from Baker Creek Heirloom seeds.  We typically start our seeds in February & March depending on the plant and works great!  My hubby has a small aquaponics set-up in the basement right now and we’ve been eating fresh organic lettuce for weeks now and are just getting green beans now too!”
  • Peaches adds,”If you want to know how to make your own seed starting mix, I would suggest that you visit the gardenweb forum.  They have a soil, compost and mulch forum that gives you directions on how to make your own mix.  They also have lots of other gardening forums over there that are worth visiting such as a tomato forum, organic gardening, vegetables and square foot gardening.  I visit the board myself when I want a question answered.  They are very helpful over there.  Here is a link to their soil forum.
  • Yvette asks, “Does anyone know if any stores have any good clearance sales on women’s winter coats? Kohls? Burlington Coat Factory?”
