Heads Up

  • From Lisa, “Got my Gear XS “leggings” . I am certain a lot of you ordered this as it was blogged heavily. Decent item but I purchased several of them as my intention was to pair them with a top as a gift. Now I am out shopping for leggings as when they came the packing reads tights. Totally different mind set from a wearers stand point. Leggings you imagine as pants and could wear with a top. Tights you imagine something like a skirt going over  and more of a under garment. I personally felt that these were misrepresented and would not have ordered them had I known they were tights. Did Everyone else get tights too?”
  • Rachel comments, ‘I always thought of leggings as footless tights, unless they are like jeggings — these are actually thicker than some of the ones I have seen worn with tops?”
  • Lisa replies, “True, they are thicker than a lightweight pair of leggings. I bought a lined pair of leggings at Walmart and they are structured like pants and not tights. These have 2 seams  on the tush part that are very akin to thermal long underwear and are tube shaped as apposed to a pant shape. For tights, they are a decent deal. In my area they are available for about $5 a pair for similar quality so worth the money. If I were buying them for the purpose as they are labeled “tights”, all would have been good. However they probably would not have sold so many (especially to me) if they were accurately described and not represented as something they are not.”
  • From feelgood, “Hollister has all jeans and pants on sale for $20 today only, with free shipping at $25.”
  • Sharisse commented on the Buffalo Wild Wings deal: “I did this last year & never received anything back. :(“
  • Caroline sent this:

Jewel

  • Michelle found some deals today, “Just got home from Jewel at Geneva Road and Main Street y(Wheaton) and they have the hormel pork loin back ribs for $1.99/lb most packs were $5!! They have quite a few of these. They also have some hamburger patties on sale $4 for 4 patties.”

Meijer

  • Feelgood sent this comment about a Meijer policy, “Looks like you can buy something today at a higher price, then get the difference back after the item goes on sale in an upcoming weekly ad.”

Reader Requests

  • Rachel sent this for Nancy: Meijer is doing Santa Bucks Wed and Thurs this week, and they’re already available to load in mPerks.
  • Allison sent a suggestion for the kitty litter question from yesterday, “Joanne- I recommend Cat’s Pride Fresh & Light. I use this for my cat with sensitive skin and it doesn’t bother him at all. I use the fragrance free variety and it is dust free and does a good job of keeping the box smelling fresh. Jewel and Meijer carry it and it goes on sale pretty often.”
  • Sabrina also has some suggestions, “Dustless cat litter-we use the Breeze litter box system for our two cats. It uses pellets and also absorbent pads at the same time. Not only is it way cleaner than traditional litter, the cost also ends up being less for us weekly. But the initial cost was higher than a regular box.”
  • –and about the groupon goods, “For the groupon goods I too ordered four things from them. The shipping did take way longer than I anticipated, but I finally received the fourth and final order today. My orders were placed before thanksgiving.”
  • Lisa Maria has a question, “Hi! Any deals when you renew your Sam’s club membership?”

Restaurant.com two day code, $25 for $4.25

  • Feelgood sent some suggestions for Letsshop on the Restaurant.com two day code, “there are a few restaurants in your area that don’t require you to spend double the certificate amount. Examples: Broadway Pancake House in Brookfield, $5 certificate for a $7.50 minimum purchase, or $10 certificate for a $15 minimum purchase. Grand Tavern in Brookfield, $10 certificate for a $15 minimum purchase. Andreas in Forest Park, $5 certificate for a $7.50 minimum purchase.”

Star Wars Phone Cases

Target

  • Jessica on Facebook, found Just Dance 2015 is on sale for $25.00, shipped, for multiple platforms.
  • Vicki adds, “I found ToysRUs has the xbox 360 version on their website for $19.99. Target price matched for me on Sunday even though theirs was on sale for $25 in store. Plus used my red card for extra 5% off!”
  • Debbie sends a comment on the Target Free With Coupons, “Our Champaign Target had the Clorox wipes at $.92 and not the $.48.  I have more trouble with them than any other store when you mention deals in the Chicago area and then we don’t get them here always.”
  • Kay replies, “I have noticed some Target stores here (Western Suburbs) have them priced at $.92 and other stores have them for $.48. Prices are pretty inconsistent even with stores relatively close to each other.”

The tix were about $10 & there’s not any add’l fee for entrance nor parking.  Took a full hour since we walked slowly & really enjoyed the light show. Body Shop

  • Christina sent this note about the half price body shop deal, “I used a Groupon over the weekend and was disappointed to find out that The Body Shop no longer allows you to combine a Groupon with either their sales or their card member discount.  Not as good of a deal as it used to be.

They have most of the same rewards as last year, but you have to jump through hoops to get the rewards. “

Restaurant & Retail Bonus Gift Cards

  • Lori sent this comment about the restaurant holiday bonus gift card deal, “Papa Johns has a deal that for every 25.00 giftcard you purchase you get a coupon for a free pizza.  Free pizza coupon must be used by 1/25/2015.”

I would rather have the up-front cash off than a bonus at the end! :) Also, Mago (my fave restaurant in the ‘burbs you guys! Multiple locations!!) has $25 gc when you buy $100 in gc. I can’t say enough great things about the place.”

  • Diane has a question and an answer for Patty, “Patty – I also have been waiting for the Walmart $5 GC from the Palmolive promotion. I did get a response back which said that that there were only a limited number of GC’s avaulable & they had all been sent out.  Needless to say, I will not be quick to participate in any of their future offers.  Did anyone else receive theirs?”
  • Patty responds, “Thanks Diane. I think I’ll send them an email stating my dissatisfaction with their promotions.  It’s not worth my time if they don’t have enough gift cards. Ttheir selection of coupons has been abysmal lately anyway.  Definitely not worth the $5 I spent on the subscription.”

  • Something like… a frugal idea from Charlotte on Facebook:”I know you like frugal ideas for your readers, so here is mine. My son really needed a scarf, and I was planning on using my Kohl’s cash to get one for him. No luck. Tried 2 different stores. Nada. Plus my daughter wanted a My Little Pony scarf, which, well, cost a lot if you didn’t go via Etsy, and even then they were $12+ each. So, a trip to Jo-Ann’s and $6 worth of fleece (50% off one item coupon, no sale price today) and voila! I got the ladies at the store to cut them to the size I wanted, since they have that nice straight thinga-ma-bob. They say they don’t normally do it, but since it was quiet, they could do it for me. My son got himself an Angry Birds Scarf and my daughter her My Little Pony scarf.”
