How many papers? Week of 4/13/14

The week of 4/13/14, we’re expecting: One Red Plum and two SmartSource inserts.

Use this as a general guide, because coupons and values vary regionally. This means that sometimes our papers will not include one or more of the coupons listed, or that one area will get one $ amount on their coupons, we will get another. In Chicagoland, the Chicago Tribune has the most coupons in it — even if the Sun-Times, or the DuPage Daily Herald, or the other smaller papers have the same inserts, they’re thinner. (Occasionally, the Sun-Times will contain a coupon not found in the Trib, but it’s rare.) If you are outside Chicagoland, you will want to pick up the largest-circulation paper in your area.

So, what looks good to me?

  • BOGO Aquafina FlavorSplash bottle.
  • $1.00/1 Bird’s Eye recipe ready. Get free bags of onions and such at Walmart.
  • $2.00/3 Neosporin, Band-Aid, and J&J Red Cross excluding trial, 10 ct Band-Aid, little first aid kits.
  • $.75/2 Sargento ultra thin slices.
  • $1.00/1 So Delicious dairy free — last time the Tribune didn’t have this, but maybe this time?
  • $2.00/2 Starbucks coffee bags. If you get your papers Saturday, at Target through Sat. buy three bags at $6.99 each get a $5 gift card. Plus, buy two get a $5 Starbucks e-gift card.
  • $2.00/2 Arm & Hammer laundry detergents. (We rarely get A&H in the Tribune, so will have to see.)
  • $.50/2 Kraft mac & cheese cups.
  • $1.00/1 Little Debbie. (Again, rarely in the Tribune.)
  • $.75/2 Kraft dressing.
  • $1.00/2 Planters nuts or peanut butter.
  • $1.00/1 Triscuit.
  • $1.00/1 Hellmann’s mayo.
  • $1.00/1 Hefty trash bags.
  • $1.00/1 SuperPretzel soft pretzel.

So how many?

It’s an OK week. It really depends if we get some of the regional coupons that we don’t necessarily see here. I’m thinking four, here.

Not getting inserts in your paper? Or getting smaller inserts?

The Tribune is no longer including inserts in some papers, the further you get from the city — and sometimes people in Chicago and the southern burbs are also missing one or both inserts in both delivered and purchased papers. This decision is made by the inserts — they’ll decide not to distribute in certain ZIP codes, or only to distribute a certain number in given areas, so not all papers have them. If you’re in a smaller city or rural area, your inserts may also be smaller.

  1. If you’re looking for whole inserts, try Insert Insanity.
  2. For individual coupons, try Wiz Clipz.
  3. Also check out the Mashup Mom Coupon Trading Group on Facebook!

These are also good places to check out if you just want a lot of a single coupon. It can be more cost effective than buying multiple papers.

How many papers? Week of 4/6/14

The week of 4/6/14, we’re expecting: One Red Plum and one SmartSource. *** I do not know if the Sunday Tribune will still be sold for $1.00 at Dollar Tree and Menards this week following their price jump announcement. I’ll check Dollar Tree tomorrow and report back!

Given the price jump, I have a couple of new places to recommend for whole inserts and individual coupons this week.

  1. If you’re looking for whole inserts, try Insert Insanity.
  2. For individual coupons, try Wiz Clipz. Order by noon Eastern Time and they will ship the same day, seven days a week.  Order after noon Eastern Time, they will ship the following day.

  • Domino .40/1 4lb or 5lb Granulated Sugar (6/30/14) RP 4/6 and Domino .50/1 2lb bag or TWO 1 lb boxes of Domino Brown or Confectioners Sugar (6/30/14) RP 4/6. At Ultra through Wed, Domino 4 lb sugar or 2 lb brown or powdered, 3/$5.00.

  • McCormick .75/1 any spice, herb, extract or food color (5/18/14) RP 4/6.

So how many?

There are some nice coupons for Easter baking and actually a good collection of food coupons this week. I’m thinking four.

  • Huggies $1.50/1 diapers (3/22)
  • Mucinex $5/1 allergy product (4/6) Also $2.50 MIR for 2/23-4/6. This will be free after everything at CVS starting Sunday.

So how many?

Well, hmm. This is a pretty small insert. I like the Dole juice and Halos mandarins and Almond Breeze coupons, but that’s not a lot to hang my hat on. I’ll be using the Mucinex coupon Sunday for sure, so that pays back several papers in itself, lol. Maybe four?

Not getting inserts in your paper?

The Tribune is no longer including inserts in some papers, the further you get from the city — and sometimes people in Chicago and the southern burbs are also missing one or both inserts in both delivered and purchased papers. This decision is made by the inserts — they’ll decide not to distribute in certain ZIP codes, or only to distribute a certain number in given areas, so not all papers have them.

Here are a few places you can get clipped coupons and/or whole inserts, if the Trib isn’t working for you:

  1. Klip2Save — No minimums, no fees, same day shipping, and coupons often available as early as the Wed. before they appear in the Sunday paper.
  2. Coupons & Things by Dede. Dede also has a loyalty program where you earn points for each order, and then can redeem those points towards $ off later orders. She ships fast.
  3. WeClipUSave — some cheaper than Dede, and often more stock. They also have whole inserts available.
  4. Also check out the Mashup Mom Coupon Trading Group on Facebook!

These are also good places to try if you just want a lot of a single coupon. It can be more cost effective than buying multiple papers.

How many papers? Week of 2/16/14

The week of 2/16/14, we’re expecting: Just a Red Plum.

  • For the full preview list, see We Use Coupons — note that these will vary regionally, as always.
  • See the bottom of this post for a list of clipping services to find additional coupons.
  • Use this as a general guide, because coupons and values vary regionally.

  • Land O’Frost $.75/1 bistro favorites lunch meat (3/16/14). These go on sale at Ultra.
  • Osteo Bi-Flex $3/1 30-60ct (3/15/14) and Osteo Bi-Flex $5/1 70ct+ (3/15/14), for their BOGO sales.
  • Quilted Northern $.50/1 ultra soft & strong 4pk+ (3/16/14), Quilted Northern $1.25/1 24pk+ (3/16/14), Quilted Northern $1/1 ultra plush 4pk+ (3/16/14). For the Target sale n’ stuff.
  • Tide $2/2 detergents 46oz+ TARGET COUPON (3/16/14). Stack with the ones in the 1/26 PG. People have been finding Tide on clearance at Target.

So how many?

zzzzzz. One? lol — there just isn’t a whole lot here for my family’s needs, you?

  • See the bottom of this post for a list of clipping services to find additional coupons.

  • Honey Bunches of Oats $1/2 cereals 12.5oz+ (3/23).
