It may no longer be Pi Day, but it’s always time for pie! And, always a good time for a new pie-related giveaway, this one sponsored by Mrs. Smith’s and Edwards Desserts. They sent over a couple of coupons so that I could tell you about their pies. Mr. 6 and I went pie shopping this week, and he picked out the flavors. So we have here: One Mrs. Smith’s apple pie, and one Edwards Cookies & Crème pie in a cookie crust.

They also sent over some pie serving tips for Easter — or anytime, really. Above, a simple plating trick I really liked: The Cinnamon Fork. Check this out:
- Starting with a clean plate, place a fork near the edge.
- Shake cinnamon over the fork until it’s outlined completely.
- Remove fork.
- Add a slice of pie!
Plus, then you have some cinnamon in which to dip your warm apple pie, which goes from freezer to oven to plate in about 30 minutes.
The info they sent over also said that you’ll receive $1.00 off Cool Whip with each Mrs. Smith’s purchase this Easter — and when I went to Jewel to pick this up, sure enough, each box had a $1.00 off Cool Whip with purchase peelie!
Edwards
Mr. 6 was absolutely delighted with his choice here. This is definitely a pie for a kid’s palate, in a sweet enough to make your teeth hurt kind of way. 
So I’d recommend if you’re serving a younger crowd.
One of the other suggestions they sent over was to store your knife and pie server in hot water, then completely dry them right before cutting and serving your pie. That way the heated metal will slightly dissolve the sugars in the pie as you cut, making for a cleaner break. It worked pretty well!
They also suggested sliced strawberries on the top. Ta-da!

Giveaway and review — Purex plus Fabric Softener with Crystals (3/22) CLOSED

Here’s a good clean fun giveaway for you. Purex is introducing a new laundry detergent: Purex plus Fabric Softener with Crystals Fragrance. Now with… DiftLift Action. This aims to work deep into clothes to get out dirt, and the Crystals Fragrance is to give you the scent you’d normally get from separately adding Purex Crystals.
So I tried it out
… on a load of bath towels. With my front loader washer, towels have been coming out slightly stiffer than I’d like, so I figured this would be a good way to test the built in fabric softener here. They came out slightly softer, but not super soft. They did have quite a bit of scent. (Honestly, it was more scent than I prefer on my clothes — but I don’t care for a huge amount of scent in my laundry products.)
If you like the scent of the Purex Crystals, you will definitely like this, because it did carry through the same way the separate Crystals would — but with the convenience of a single product.

Here’s a fresh new giveaway for you guys, this one from Dry Idea. The sample deodorant they sent over also leaked all over the package, as well as my hands when I unwrapped it this morning, so my fingers are still VERY fresh and not at all sweaty right now as I’m typing, lol. I’m not sure that’s the intention, but it’s a good sign! Uh oh.. the bottle says apply to underarms only. But I think I’ll be OK.
