Dollar Tree

  • Steve shares: “Dry erase markers are on dollar tree’s website 4/dollar with free in-store pickup. You could just check the store too.”

Forman Mills

  • Caroline posts on Facebook: “Just a FYI if anyone of your readers miss Value City then they will like Forman Mills. Went to the one in Franklin Park (former Kmart) and it was just like the old Value City. They have a ton of merchandise to look through some good some truly cheap but if you take the time and use the 50% off coupon that was out to advertise the Franklin Park and Villa Park you can find some bargains like the Batman fleece blanket my DD got for $5 with the coupon. Lots and lots and LOTS of school uniforms and three pack uniform tight for girls ($2.99) is what I saw on the way out.

Reader requests

  • Sue is looking for advice: “Not deal related, but was hoping for some input. Have my only child heading out to college in less than two weeks. Anyone have some great ideas on what to pack for his dorm room? He’ll only be 4 hours from home, but his goal is to stay thru to Thanksgiving. Looking for ideas for storage, or some ‘must have’ item your kid realized when they were there. Any help would be greatly appreciated! He did realize when we talked about it at the beginning of summer that that meant he’d be bringing all his clothes as it’ll be cold by then! He’s been gone all summer with a job out of state, and will have 4 or 5 days at home when he does get back to get ready to go.”
  • And from benita: “I am looking for a laptop deal for college students. It needs to be something that will last them 4 years. Thanks.”
  • From anna: “if anyone in chicago get [a free AARP membership] and not going to use it. i would love to try aarp”

  • Kathy says: “This is really a great offer. Once you receive your free membership card, you can attach it to your Balance Rewards Card, Once a month you receive 5000 Points for any transaction over $25 after Wags coupons, but before MFG coupons. That’s $60 in extra points annually. I received the membership last year, purchased the items today for the renewal and will mail the form tomorrow. Easy!”
  • From maggie: “Did you see that the Ticonderoga pencils are on sale at Wags? I just got 10 for 99 cents and I think that’s a very good price (I’m going by what people found last year). I had never bought these before, but my son was very happy I got them. He already knew that these are the best pencils out there. :)”

New Del Monte fruit cups coupon + Target and Dollar Tree deals

Head over and print a new coupon for $.75/1 Del Monte fruit cup snacks (ZIP 77477 then reload).

  • My Dollar Tree almost always has a couple flavors of these, which would make them $.25 after coupon — check yours.
  • They’re on price cut for $2.00 at Target, and there is a $1.00/2 Target coupon to stack. So buy two for $4, use two $.75/1 manufacturer coupons and the $1.00/2 Target coupon, and get two for $1.50, or $.75 each.

(Thanks, Totally Target)

  • A find from erin: “I found 10ct Welch’s fruit snacks on clearance at jewel for .99. used $1/2 q =.49.”

  • A heads up from Pam on ShopSmart: “I ordered shopsmart mag thru that website previously–warning, it is NOT a year subscription, it is only 6 months. When you click on it you will see “6 issues.” I just looked mine up–my subscription started in March and ends in September. I do love the magazine though!
  • She adds: “^^the magazine is published 10 times a year.”

Reader requests

  • Maggie emails: “I am looking for a 5×7 feet rug and I remember that someone posted something about that a while back. There was an address where they sell greatly reduced rugs but I can’t seem to find the post.”
  • Dan posts on Facebook: “any deals for making smores my daughter wants a b-day party for 18 people help!!!”

  • A tip from feelgood on next week’s Tide Oxi deal: “If see that your P&G coupons are auto-deducting for $12.99, have your Target mobile coupon ready, and have them scan it at the end. Your scenario should work like this: 6 Tide Oxi @ $10.00 each = $60.00 Minus three Tide Oxi BOGO coupons auto-deducting $12.99 each (total $38.97) = $21.03 Minus $1.00 Target mobile coupon = $20.03 Pay $20.03 and get two $10 Gift Cards = $0.03 total And that’s without sending in for the rebate! Then save your receipt and when you spend another $9.97 or more in eligible items, send in for the $10 rebate.”

Whole Foods

  • Advice from Lynne: “If you know that you need a case of something, you can call ahead to make sure they have it. I order my wheat berries in a 25lb bag (counts as a case,) so I always call ahead since we are not close by. This way I’m not making a wasted trip.”

Dollar Tree

Fresh Thyme

  • Erika emails: “Just a heads up for Fresh Thyme fans, but I was shopping at the one in Mt. Prospect (love the 2x ad Wednesdays) and they put a little coupon book in my bag with over 10 coupons for natural and organic products.”

  • Betty shares: “I was wondering around the liquor section and found two things. 1) a manufacturer coupon for 25$ off of groceries if you purchase 6 bottles of Smirnoff (750 ml or larger) includes others. 2) a manufacturer rebate for $35 dollars off 6 bottles. So $60 off 6 bottles of Smirnoff. It was price (with 10% off for buying 6 or more) $10.79 a bottle. So after everything considered just 79 cents a bottle plus tax. I believe these only over lap July 1- through July 5. Rebate ends July 5th. Didn’t really need liquor but for 79 cents got some vanilla vodka. HTH”
  • For those who got the $2.00/1 EE bath tissue coupon, Dolores reports: “I have brought the essential 12 double rolls for 4.99 .”
  • And feelgood adds: “Just got back from Jewel. There is an EE 1000-sheet single roll, it’s $0.99 ! Bought the EE roll and a package of $3.50 Dietz & Watson Beef franks for the overage. Used $2.00 coupons on each, both scanned the full value off. Total was $0.49 + $0.14 tax, total $0.63 :-)”
  • David found an even lower price on the Deitz & Watson franks: “Stickney Jewel – priced 5.49 B1G1 = $1.49 for 2 with coupons. Never ate before. We’ll see. All the packages had a July 7 expire date though.”
  • A find from Outlander: “At Jewel, look for clearance Starbucks Spring blend bagged coffee for $2.25 and use those $2/2 Qs to get 2 for $1.25 each. I bought 10, and there’s still at least 20 left. They have stars on them too. Is there still anything going on where you submit and get GC with purchase?”

Loyalty programs

  • Shandelle shares: “I got an email from Stouffer’s yesterday that they’re ending their points rewards program December 31, 2014. Got a similar email from Lean Cuisine Delicious Rewards today also, ending their program at the end of the year. Both said you can continue earning points and redeeming until then but just a heads up.”
  • Maria says: “Just entered NUTRITIONINABOWL on Kellogg’s Family Rewards for 50 points. (Found this on

  • April is wondering: “Which store carries that Superstars yogurts? I was in Bloomingdale store and a person who stocks the shelves told me that they don’t carry that product :(” Berwyn carries it but they were out yesterday!
  • But Kari O. shares: “mPerks just texted me that they’re extending the freebie offers to get more products to the stores. They’ve had A LOT of complaints and some stores have been substituting items, which defeats the purpose.” Look at that, mine expire 7/12 now!

Online deals

  • From Kari O.: “Tilly’s online is having a 50% off Clearance prices sale for the 4th of July. I just ordered some men’s hoodies for $12.49 as super early Christmas Presents. (And maybe some cute women’s shirts for $3.99 for me now….)…Oh, and if you use FREESHIPME you’ll get free shipping too.”
  • A heads up from DD on 4Checks: “Great deal but be careful as you are checking out–it asked if I wanted an identity theft protection for $10.95 and when I clicked on “no thanks” it added a BASIC protection for $4.95, which was not even an option or mentioned on the previous screen.  I had to change the drop down bar and click “no thanks” 3 separate times to get the total down to what it was supposed to be. Look at your subtotal and charges VERY carefully”

  • Artie emails: “IHOP panckes for 56 cents on Tuesday, July 8 ‘The 56-cent deal for a short stack of buttermilk pancakes is good 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at participating locations. As always with these sorts of deals,I recommend calling ahead to verify your restaurant is honoring the deal. No coupon required. Just ask your server.’”

  • Angela comments: “I just purchased 16 [notebooks] (didn’t really need 24). 16 brought me over the $25 min. to get the discount, plus I have free shipping because I’m a rewards member. Total shipped w/tax came to under $3.00.”
  • Callie found, in addition to the other staples school supplies deals: “Composition notebooks are $0.50 also!!”
  • Charlotte says: “These deals are also available in store, for the most part. The Bolingbrook store does not have any of the items tagged at this price, but they did ring up correctly, except the glue sticks. The cashier had no issues changing the price to the online price once I looked it up on my phone. My advice is to write down the prices from online, before you head to the store.”

  • Something to look for from Sue: “Picked up the Oxiclean Dishwasher Detergent at Target today, and found TMF tags on the bottles. Counting in my stamp to mail it in, and what I paid at the store, all four containers ended up being free!”
  • Ashley has something to look for if you are buying Oreos: “There’s peelies on many of the Oreos for save $1 when you buy one and any size milk”
  • Kelly posts on Facebook: “Check Cartwheel 10% local brand milk offer and a 5% MP as well as ibotta :)”

And then there was Dollar Tree

I also stopped by the Villa Park Dollar Tree today to get ice cube trays, since I’m going to make and freeze pesto soon (recipe hopefully forthcoming!). I’m pretty sure that Dollar Tree ice cube trays are made out of Saran Wrap, but hopefully they will hold up long enough to get this one job done.

They had a whole endcap of these expensive looking AcneFree sets. These turn out to be $18 shipped on Amazon, so I guess $1.00 is a good deal!

I also spotted six packs of Kellogg’s To Go shake mixes. No current coupons that I know of, but this is a good price.

Lastly, they had Skippy Natural dark chocolate peanut butter. This, I kind of bought a couple of. Plus the aforementioned ice cube trays, and a box of Philly Swirl (which was free with the $1.00/1 in the 5/18 SS).

More deals I saw at Dollar Tree 6/20/14

dtbacos dtpoptarts

I was driving by Dollar Tree today, so stopped in to look for more Philly Swirl. That, they didn’t have, but here are a few deals I spotted:

  • McCormick Bac’n bits. These are not real bacon, but it’s a great price if you like ‘em.
  • A whole endcap of low fat Pop Tarts. No current coupons — I tried KFR but they only had birthday cake and gone nutty.
  • They had restocked the Honey Bunches of Oats granola and now also have a raspberry kind. Use $1.00/1 in the June AY to get them free.
  • They had Little Remedies Honey Elixir for colds. No current coupons.
  • Zicam naturals cough suppressant. Print $2.00/1 here.
  • Triaminic cold & allergy. There’s supposed to be $1.00/1 on the Triaminic site, but it just goes to a “thanks for downloading” graphic.
  • John Morrell 9 oz smoked sausages. Print $2.00/3 here and get three for $1.00! Unlock and print by: Liking on Facebook, sharing a photo, taking a poll.
  • 13 oz Heinz reduced sugar ketchup, and 13 oz Heinz no salt ketchup.

  • Some ideas from julie: “Check your MCM coupons for some possible great deals. Today I got a $3 off 2 Charmin (minimum purchase $3) from the MCM, The single roll Charmin was $1.57, so 2 @ 7 cents each. I had a $1.50 off $4 deodorant making the free Dry Idea a moneymaker. I also had a $3 off $15 oral care. The Crest Sensi-relief is included in the ECB deal so I decided to add a multi-pack of travel size colgate to the 2 crest toothpase and 2 colgate toothbrushes. The multi pack travel size did spit out a $2 ECB even thought the ad said they were excluded, So my trip was: 2 single roll Charmin $3.14 2 Dry Idea deodorant $6.00 2 Crest Sensi Relief $5.98 2 Colgate 360 toothbrushes $5.98 1 Coltage travel size Multi pack $3.47 Used: $3/ 2 Charmin MCM $1.50/$4 Deodorant MCM $3/$15 Oral Care MCM 2 $2/1 Dry Idea 2 $1/1 Crest printables 2 $1/1 Colgate Brushes 6-1 SS Paid with $8.75 in ECB’s and $0.31, received $12 in ECB ($4 Colgate brushes, $4 Crest, $2 Colgate multi pack and $2 Dry Idea) Woo-Hoo!!”

Dollar Tree

  • Charlotte reports: “And Dollar Tree in Bolingbrook has 15 (or 13 which is the normal size, the 15 count is a “special” size) ct Hefty sandwich bags that you can use the $1 off 2 coupons, as well as the small packs of Hormel Pepperoni, which also have a $1 off 2 coupons. Please note that the other Hefty bags were under the 12 ct limit :(“

  • To go with the coupon in today’s SS, peaches says: “Jewel has Kemps frozen yogurt on sale for 2.$6.00 through 7/1.”

  • From Ashley: “Today only!!Meijer has four packs of 9 Lives wet food for $0.99 on price cut. Buy three get $1 onyo buy four get $1.50 buy six get $2. Makes them $0.50 each wyb four!! And it rolls beautifully”
  • She follows up: “Should be wyb two lol sorry Starting today there’s a promo for buy $20 get $5 instant Meijer laundry and paper products. The hangtags mentioned are abundant in store on pallet display, end cap, and aisle. Two scenarios: Buy five Meijer Ultra “pods” 14 ct at $3.99 each Buy one box Meijer facial tissue $1 – five $1/1 Meijer Ultra hangtags – $5 instant savings Pay $10.95 with $20.95 credit towards reward Buy four Meijer Ultra 50oz regular or free and clear at $4.99 each Buy one box Meijer facial tissue $1 – four $1/1 Meijer Ultra hangtags – $5 instant savings = $11.96 with $20.96 credit towards reward.

  • Charlotte shares: “On another note, the Menards in Bolingbrook had these on an end cap over in electrical, where they normally would carry clearance items. Go figure. I had to ask one of the employees where it was located.”

  • On the Soda Stream, Charlotte says: “If you order from Amazon, just print out a copy of your Amazon order, and enclose it. The guy I talked to at Soda Steam said with Amazon purchases, an UPC was not needed. Still waiting on the actual rebate however… When was the previous MIR? Hmmm…”

  • From julie: “Super Money Maker on the Florax pro-biotic if you are really bad at cleaning out your inserts like I am. The 11-24-13 RedPlum (yes, last year November) has a $5/1 Florax coupon that doesn’t expire until December 31, 2014! I literally was steps away from recycling that stack of inserts last week with a newspaper run for the church, but was feeling too lazy to get them from my basement. That was a 6 paper week for me, so YAY LAZINESS!!!! The $10 RR is perfect for rolling into a Finish detergent and/or rinse aid for the mail in rebate”
  • Pam adds: “I had that insert as well. I always check to see that all coupons are at least 30 days expired before recycyling (since Ultra accepts them 30d expired.) I only had one insert for that week, though, for some strange reason! Maybe I inadvertently threw the others out–not sure. When you buy the probiotic, inside the box is a coupon for $3 as well. If you have any of the Kio-ds for upset stomach or whatever it was called from a previous RR deal, that also has the coupon inside the box.”
  • LC noticed it too: “Check your coupons. There was a $5/1 q for the Florax DS ready to drink probiotic. Couldn’t remember what insert but I checked the coupon database and it said the 11/24/13 RP.”

Print for $.33 smoked sausage at Dollar Tree

Over on Hopster, they have a “locked” coupon for $2.00 off any three John Morrell products. Unlock and print by: Liking on Facebook, sharing a photo, taking a poll. Dollar Tree carries the little 9 oz smoked sausage, making it 3/$1.00 after the $2.00/3 coupon.

As always, Dollar Tree inventory can vary by store. This is a staple at mine, but may not be at yours. If not, this also goes on sale for $1.00 at Ultra Foods fairly often.

9 cent Dollar Tree shopping and a few Dollar Tree deals

Yeah, I’m a big spender! It’s been a while since I took a wander around Dollar Tree, so here’s what I picked up for $.09 today and a few more deals I spotted (Lombard IL location). As always, inventory at Dollar Tree will vary by location, so this is just an idea of what you may find.

4 Philly Swirl frozen treats, $4.00. Used four $1.00/1 from the 5/18 SS.

Dollar Tree

  • Ashley found: “Dollar Tree has Philly Swirl ice cream treats so free with the $1/1 in 5/18SS”

Household tips

  • From celmarie: “I always stock up on the OM deli fresh meat and freeze it. Can’t notice any difference after its frozen.”
  • Sarah adds: “I freeze it all the time. My husband has never complained. I always freeze cheese too.”

  • Shandelle found: “Jewel at Southport and Addison had several kinds of Wishbone salad dressing on clearance for $1.24 for those that got the $1 coupon.”
  • She also shares: “A heads up regarding the same Jewel at Southport and Addison in Wrigleyville, a couple weeks ago they setup a “coupon center” display in the upstairs liquor area. Seems they’re just putting the hang tags and rebate offers there instead of putting them on the bottles. I actually find this helpful because they seem to replenish it regularly and you don’t have to hunt around for them on other brands/types for the same offer if what you’re buying doesn’t have one.”

  • Jackie on Facebook advises: “Check your receipt at Meijer on your buy 10 get 11th free when using coupons for any of the first 10 items. Although I made sure I had my 11th item a non-coupon item and it showed up on the register as taking off a full dollar, I looked at my receipt and one of my free items had changed to .55 off instead of 1.00

  • Jackie sends over: “credit to bonnie48 at CW Menards has 24 pack Glacier Mist water on sale for $2.50 per case…on top is a rebate form, buy 5 get a $5 Menards GC back….pay $12.50 get $5 back= $7.50 for 5 cases $1.50 per case. I went and did this yesterday.  The rebate is actually the plastic packaging on the waterbottles (not a form from CS)  you have to cut it from the packaging to mail it in.  You need to send in 5 forms from the top of the waterbottles along with a SASE and they will mail you a $5 MENARDS gift card.  Limit of 4 gift cards (20 cases ) per household. Stocked up for us for summer as well as VBS”

Reader requests

  • One from savinlikeu: “Tried doing Ibbota on Safeway link with jewel receipt…it worked…anyone else try this? TIA”
  • Caroline is wondering: “Do you know of any stores that will have Challenge Butter on sale for this upcoming week? I tried to use my coupons at Caputo’s but they don’t understand coupons there and claimed it was a Jewel coupon. UGH Unfortunately, Caputo’s has told me that they don’t accept coupons with other store logos or names regardless of whether it is a manufacturer coupon. It is $2.50 at Tony’s through today, but their policy is silent on these coupons.

  • Minxy comments: “Thanks for the Swiffer heads-up! Mine was out of the less expensive options – does anyone know how often they stock during these promotions? Thanks!”
  • Suzanne posts on Facebook: “Found boxes of Del Monte fruit burst squeezes at Target for $1.88 (mixed berry & strawberry) also packs of boys character underwear for $4.48 (Lego Chima & Turbo)
  • A heads up on Sweet Baby Ray’s from victoria h: “They have to be all the same bbq kind– I got 2 of 2 and did not get the 4th free. Still can not complain about 2.04 for 4.”

  • John W shares: “The new Tony’s opens Weds 5/21 in Lincoln Square, 5233 N. Lincoln in Chicago. Grand opening week sales (at this store only, May 21-27) include Milk 1.88/gal, Centrella Sugar 1.49/4lbs (lim 2), Aunt Jemima waffles 88 cents (lim 2), Dean’s Ice Cream 2.50, Oscar Mayer wieners 99 cents (lim 2), whole watermelon 2.99 ea., charcoal 4.88/16 lb, Pork spare ribs 1.99/lb, blueberries 1.99/pint, corn 5/$1, avocadoes 99 each, Riceland rice 6.99/20 lbs., Racconto pasta 59 cents/1 lb., Asli raw peanuts 3.99/4 lbs. Check-out bingo and raffle at certain times. Full ad is hereThe ice cream, charcoal, ribs, and blueberries, are also in my regular ad.

Ultra Foods

  • From feelgood: “The last time Ultra had the “save instantly when you buy 10 mix/match items”, I bought 4 of these same bonus 24 oz bottles of Kraft Ranch dressing and six other Kraft items, and a $5 instant came off. Bottle says “Bonus Size 50% more free (compared to 16 oz size)”. The .55/1 printables may work, too, since you’re paying for 16 oz and getting 50% more free. Sounds like very cheap or even MM dressing!”
  • He also sends over: “Got my weekly ads today. My local Centrella store has a manufacturer coupon in their ad, “Save $5.00 when you buy 10 participating Kraft Foods Items”, expires 5/28/14. Most of this week’s Ultra sale items (until 5/21)  are participating items for the coupon, so finding some excellent matchups: Oscar Mayer Deli Fresh Lunchmeat, $0.68 after $4.00/5 Catalina. Kraft Salad Dressing, $0.48, Oscar Mayer Bologna or Cotto Salami, $0.48, Breakstone Sour Cream, $0.88, Capri Sun or Crystal Light $0.98, Kraft Mayo or Miracle Whip, $1.38, Kraft Singles, Shredded, Chunk, $1.38, Planters Peanuts, $1.38″
  • Celmarie noticed: “Ultra has Texas toast croutons for $1 so .25cents after .75 q in the May all you.”

  • Diane cautions: “Maybe everyone in the world knows this but me – but just in case they don’t. I bought a Wags GC from Raise the other day & used it on BR items that I purchased at Wags today & get 0 BRP when I should have gotten 3500 points. Didn’t notice this till I got home & when I called Wags they said no BRP are accumulated when you pay with points or store credit (i.e. GC). So just in case, someone else doesn’t know.” Merchandise credit will do that, but true gift cards will not. Unfortunately with Raise, there is no way to know for sure.

  • A heads up from Matt on this TV: “720 is a lower resolution. But it’s probably fine if you’re looking for a cheap one. The pricey ones are the Samsung 32 inch 1080p models. “
