  • Pam shares: “I only get the online offers for CVS as well, so I rarely shop there anymore either! I have heard people say that if you get a new card, you will start getting them again, so maybe that’s an idea.”
  • Another idea from Andrea: “Like many others, I haven’t received any CVS email or regular mail coupons in months – maybe almost a year. Just last week, I tried to change my email address on my account online and got a message that I had to call the 800 number to do that. So I just opted out of receiving emails – no big loss since I wasn’t receiving any anyway! I picked up a few things on Sunday and the cashier was prompted to ask me for my email address. I entered it on the screen, and lo and behold, I received a 20% off ‘welcome’ coupon a few hours later. We will see if this is a one-time thing, or if I will receive them regularly again.”
  • And peaches reports: “I went to CVS to purchase some milk today, and while checking out, I got four store coupons, including one for $2 off any $8 or more eye care purchase, $1.50 off $5 Crest or Oral B toothpaste, mouthwash or toothbrush, $1 off any 3 bags of candy, and $3 off any $10 razors, blades or shave cream.”

Dollar Tree

  • Scott warns: “Heads up. Dollar Tree on Golf Rd(Morton Grove) will not accept theFisher Boy Q’s. Register beeped-invalid Q. Manager would not accept. Cashier said because the pic on Q has 48 piece, that Q is invalid. Bummer”

In-store deals

  • From anne: “If anyone prefers to see the fleece leggings in person (rather than buying online), Ross has them for $4.99 (or at least the Ross in New Lenox has them for that price). I bought a pair, and am very happy with them! Marshalls also carries them for around $6.”

Loyalty programs

  • Maria found: “New Kellogg’s Family Rewards codes from EATMORECHOCOLATE (25 points) added 10/17, expires 10/23 KFRSNACKSYOULOVE (50 points) added 10/21, expires 10/27 COLLECTPOINTSNOW (50 points) added 10/21″

  • Mandy says: “I also found Meijer Organic whipped butter, 8 oz. tubs marked down on the sticker to $1.91, but, they scanned for $1.59. Expiration dates I found were for 12/14/14. Bloomingdale, IL store in a box cooler across from the yogurt section in dairy. There were about 10 left when I was there.” I saw that on clearance in Berwyn as well, but didn’t catch the price.
  • She also comments: “If you need cheese, Meijer in Bloomingdale has the 7-8 oz. blocks of Kraft cheese on sale this week for $3.48, buy 2 get 1 free. I had an Mperks for $1 off 2 Kraft cheese. Works out to $1.65 each. Watch your receipt, because it only deducted $2.48, which I had corrected at the Service Desk.”

Reader requests

  • Don posts on Facebook: “Has anybody noticed anywhere that might be closing the season on beets with clearance prices ? Normally about now a market or grocer or 2 has beets for like 30 cents a pound, I would like to stock up – tyia”
  • Meg is wondering: “Does anyone know of a good price on pie pumpkins (or just small pumpkins)? I need about 10 of them for a party activity. I was hoping to find them for $2 each or less.”

  • A warning from suez: “I bought these [knockoff magic erasers] last time. They disintegrate so fast I has to use four to clean a bathtub that wasn’t even that dirty. May not be such a great deal.”
  • But Margaret on Facebook had a different experience: ” bought these when they were on sale last time and they work just as well as the name brand ones. Enough of a supply to last a lifetime!”

  • Clarification from nilo that you can submit multiple items on the same receipt for a single offer in SNAP when there isn’t a limit on the offer: “i submitted the chobani multiple times, same receipt. when you submit a “multiple” times offer, a minus and plus sign appear, you click on the plus until you reach the number you bought. in my case i bought 3 so i clicked on the plus sign until i reached 3.”
  • And some advice from Brandy: “Don’t wait. I foolishly watched the Huggies diapers sit there all weekend and thought it would at least tell me when it was “ALMOST GONE” but did not… bought two and then it was gone before I uploaded the receipt a few hours later. Email and they basically said, sorry about your luck. Will be returning those two packs of Huggies…….”

Dollar Tree

  • Jane says: “I found 4 packs of these [CFL bulbs] at Dollar Tree this morning! Also, Menards had the 4 packs $1 and also another off brand were 88 cents. We stocked up on them. I assume the market is saturated with CFL’s now, so they are going to be getting even cheaper.”

  • Celmarie posts on Facebook: “I got the gerber cereal oyno at jewel. Not sure if these are all working at jewel. Gerber Cereals, any 8oz or 16oz 10/6/14 – 11/2/14: Buy two, get $1.00 OYNO. Buy three, get $2.00 OYNO.  Buy four or more, get $3.00 OYNO.”
  • Kitty reports: “End date on both beans and tomatoes is 1-6-15.”

Peter Rubi

  • An idea from Outlander: “I don’t know about real mini pumpkins, but Dollar Tree usually has a smallish, but still good size fake pumpkin. Maybe that’s better, so they can paint on it, glue things on it, and it can stay for years as a keepsake then.”
  • Marcia shares: ” I saw that ACE has mini pumpkins in their ad that starts today. They are selling packs of 5 for 3.99.”
  • Samantha says: “Ultra had a good price for pumpkins of all sizes”

Reader requests

  • Jovandi is wondering: “Anyone know of any coupons to pair up with the liquor rebate [in the Jewel Big Book]?”
  • Candy emails: “Does anyone know when the new Goodwill in Romeoville will be open? Or if there are any grand opening sales or giveaways?”
  • El is wondering about the knockoff magic erasers: “Can we use them for washing dishes or is the chemical in them not food safe?”
  • Susan posts on Facebook: “Asking for help in finding the best deal on a Honda snowblower. Found out our will cost well over $600 to repair. My husband is set on a Honda. Gas powered single stage with electric start. I see that Cardpool has a sale on Home Depot gift cards – 11% off, but wondering how I can combine to make it an even better deal. TIA”

  • For this deal and beyond, Anne shares: “Yes, you bring them to your local shop, and they will mount, balance, & dispose of old tires for you. I have used Farm & Fleet and Discount Tire. Nice thing about Discount Tire is they will rotate for free for the life of the tires if they mounted them there. Only thing is tires are bulky, so the hardest part is getting them in the car to bring them to the shop :)”

Ultra Foods

  • Jen K reports: “I bought Progresso soup and received a $2 catalina. Haven’t seen it posted anywhere so don’t know if it is good at all stores. The details were not on the coupon and I bought 16 cans so pretty sure $2 is the highest amount.” Apparently there is a national deal that started 10/6 that must be running at Ultra: Progresso Products 10/6-11/2: Buy $10-$14.99, get $1.50 OYNO. Buy $15+, get $2 OYNO. It is in today’s ad at $.98 but limit four.

Reader requests

  • Sent over by james: “I am looking for a McDonalds who is selling the Halloween Treat coupon books – I live in the Tinley Park and have tried several McDonalds in my surrounding burbs and no one has them. I went so far as to call the Oak Brook headquarters. They were no help – most of the stores are franchised and its up to the owner. Last year my son found then in the Pilsen area. If anyone knows of any McD’s selling them – please post it on MUM!”
  • Jane says: “I got the same Cat. alert for the cheese today at Kroger. Wonder why we didn’t hear about this until now since it says it’s been going on since the 8th of Sept? I haven’t checked any other stores prices yet on Kraft blocks. Anyone see a good price, please post it here!” It is NOT printing at Meijer.

Dollar Tree shopping and finds

I stopped by the Villa Park Dollar Tree across the street from ALDI today, looking for the PediaCare that found at hers. Alas, none — but if you do spot it at yours, there is a $1.00/1 in the 9/7 SS2 to make it free. I did buy a thesaurus — it’s a good one for Junior High Guy, who needs it for English (I’m sorry, LANGUAGE ARTS) homework when he doesn’t finish at the Library (I’m sorry, MEDIA CENTER — wow am I old). Plus a couple packs of light bulbs and two 4-packs of Playtex Gentle Glide (free with the $1.00/1 in the 8/24 SS, which has no size restrictions).

  • What deals have you found at your Dollar Tree lately? Please comment here, because everyone’s store has something different.

As always, Dollar Tree inventory varies by location, so no guarantees you will find these products in your store. This is just an idea of what you may find and stuff to look for.

So, here are a few deals I spotted:
