Chicago Tribune — gigantic price jump in April

tribunepricejump

Several of you have emailed about the Chicago Tribune going up in price in April — well, it’s official. This notice was in the Tribs I picked up at Dollar Tree today: There is a HUGE price jump starting April 6, when newsstand copies will go from $1.99 to $2.99. I do not yet know if this will affect Tribs sold at Dollar Tree and Menards, where they have been selling them for $1.00 as opposed to the current $1.99 price.

The Trib oh so kindly offers to let you lock in a two year subscription at $1.99 a week (ouch). Jill Cataldo is currently offering a $.75 per week Sunday Tribune subscription deal (her site is currently down, but check back later), so I’d strongly suggest subscribing through her if the price also jumps at DT/Menards or they stop carrying the Sunday paper.
