Dr. Pepper — confirmed working at Jewel

This is just killing me, folks, since I can’t get to the store til tonight and am sure these will be gone! But, my loss, your gain:

Confirmed here and on Couponers Wanted, the Dr. Pepper double dip Catalina is working. This is today, Wed., only. Here’s what you do:

  • Go to Jewel. Buy nine 6-packs of Dr. Pepper bottles for $1.77 each. (Be sure to get at least 2 different flavors, because the price limit on each flavor is 8.) Pay $15.93. Get back $25.00 in Catalinas on two overlapping deals. (Three $5.00 and a $10.00!) Update: This also works if you buy 6 6-packs of Dr. Pepper AND 3 6-packs of 7up, sunkist (orange only), or A&W root beer.

Now, what I would do here. Is keep $10.00. Go back and spend $15.00 on another set of Dr. Pepper. Pay $.93+ tax OOP and get back another $25.00. Repeat as necessary… Update: dh did this for me on his way to work (brave man!). Three sets of 9 6-packs (he said there’s a big display by produce at Lombard), $21.72 out of pocket, $45.00 back in Catalinas!

Thank you to Audrey, Kim, and Shelly who were our early guinea pigs on this deal — you guys are great!

Realize that this is a do-at-your-own-risk deal. Customer service is in no way going to believe that you’re supposed to get $25.00 back on this purchase if the Catalina doesn’t print for whatever reason (machine out of paper, network down, jammed…)

As a time saver to some, they are all out of Dr. Pepper at the Jewel in Minooka & Shorewood. Looks like I will miss this deal. Happy Hunting!

The supervisor of the self check-outs in Lombard WILL NOT allow patrons to roll catalinas. She refers to the line “Not valid towards previous purchase.” I told her that I was making a current purchase, not trying to apply these catalinas to my previous one. Did not have the time to fight it this morning.

did the deal this morning at the Aurora Jewel on rt. 59 – they were out on the main pop-aisle shelves but they had a large display in the produce section and near the meat/dairy dept. Also did the dove/vaseline/q-tips deal. Thanks for the tips!

No luck at the Dyer and Crown Point IN stores. They have every other brand (A&W, 7-up etc) in the $1.77/preferred card sale six-packs, but not Dr. Pepper. Not even a spot on the shelf for it. Scoured both stores for displays in other areas of the store. Maybe it’s an Indiana/Illinois thing? Anyone else have any luck in Indiana?

Tanya — these are 16.9oz bottles. The 6-pack of plastic bottles on sale for $1.77 :) .

Jen — I think I know the woman you’re talking about — avoid her! I always switch to a regular lane if she is there. That bites.

I found out that the Dyer and Munster store don’t have the deal but the South Holland store which we found was not far does have it but someone bought all the cherry and my hubby cleared out the DP regular. Sorry. :)

Hi! I did the deal today in libertyville. You have to get at least 6 of the dr pepper and then you can do 3 of something else. Ex: lemonade, 7up, rootbeer, sunkist.

I was able to do it twice and they had a ton when I was there at lunch.

Southsiders – Alsip – IL is out of Dr. pepper. FYI

I did the deal at the Highland Park store. They really gave me a hard time (they always do). They challenged me for buying over 8 units (I bought 9). They would only let me do the deal once. As of 4:00 they had tons left. They were located by the dairy section.

Also, the Motts Apple juice is working on this promotion and Fiber One bars.

I first did the DP deal got back $25

Used the $20 of the $25 to purchase (9) Fiber One bars 22.89 – $20 in cats from first order. Total $2.89
received $15 Cat and (2) cats for Free Mulipack water up to $4.50 (YEAH!)

Then purchased (9) Motts Apple Jices $16.79 – $15 cats from first order. Total $1.79 and received $15 Cat.

Then (9) more Motts AJ using cats paid $1.79. Then (9) more Fiber One bars paid $2.89 and received (2) more Cats for free water and NO CATS from the promo. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted.

I will call Catalina to get my $15 cat for purchasing the Fiber One bars.

If you guys do the apple juice, careful — the scan price varies at different stores so 9 works at some stores but at others you’ll need more. More to come on that later!

  19. Kateon 29 Jul 2009 at 7:16 pm

Sue… it worked in Crown Point :)

  20. Bobbion 29 Jul 2009 at 7:34 pm

Went to 4 different stores this evening. There is not a single drop of DP to be found anywhere.

Jen I believe I’ve had the “coupon nazi” at Lombard self checkout twice. I’m with Rachel if you see her walk away from self checkout. She literrally reads every coupon and will argue you down, you can not win with her. I’ve tried.

My Motts AJ shelf price is 4.18 and Fiber One shelf price 3.85.

I’m realizing I could have bought 8 Motts AJ ($33.44) @ my Jewel and 8 Fiber Ones ($30.80) to get the $15 cat.

  22. Tina Won 30 Jul 2009 at 11:43 am

Called catalina, my cats did not print because 3 of them were entered manually bringing my total down to $24 thus not qualifying for the cat.

Oh well, don’t know if I will attempt speaking with CS about their error.

Omg. My head is spinning. Can someone do the wheelin’ and dealin’ for this working mom?

  24. rachelon 01 Aug 2009 at 8:28 pm

Don’t do this one, it’s OVER! I’ll be doing a new roundup post on the Unilever and other Jewel deals tonight.
