How many papers? Week of 2/7/10
How many papers this week? Well… this week there will be four, count ‘em, four coupon inserts: SmartSource, Red Plum, P&G, and General Mills. See the full list of what should be included at Taylortown Preview here. Nata-Leigh notes that their Red Plum is short, so see the fuller list here. Huh, wonder what happened there. As always, some coupons are regional and values may vary by region, so use this as just a general guide.
What coupons am I particularly looking forward to?
- $.50/1 Birds Eye steamfresh — of course last time we got something like $.30 in this region, but hey. These go on sale for $1.00 on occasion at Jewel.
- $1.00 off Clementine Cuties. Yum.
- $1.00 off Hormel always tender product — the pork loins go BOGO at Jewel regularly as well.
- $1.00 off Quaker instant oatmeal. HA!
- $1.00 off YoPlus yogurt.
- $.75 off Crest toothpaste — all those ECB and RR deals.
- $4.00 off a Gillette fusion razor — ditto.
- Free Herbal Essences styling product wyb HE — double ditto.
- Free Puffs wyb 2 Vick’s. Nostalgia. For the last Jewel deal with that one. And there’s a $1.50/1 NyQuil or DayQuil to go with it.
- $2.00/1 All.
- Various Garnier — always a good deal on that.
So what do you see that looks good to you? I’m dithering about how many papers to get, nothing huge for my purposes, but a lot of inserts.
Here again is the post with a bunch of ideas on getting cheap newspapers, although the Menard’s “15% off everything you can fit into a reusable bag” sale is over. Reminder: The Dollar Tree and Menard’s in Illinois (apparently, from your comments, not necessarily including all stores in Kenosha/NW Indiana) both carry the Chicago Tribune for $1.00, and you can pick up the early Sunday edition by mid-morning Saturday.
If you want to have one delivered, wazsup says on the forum: “I have a code for everyone to get the Chicago Tribune delivered for 50 cents per week for the Sunday edition! Go to chicagotribune.com enter your zip code and the following code…. 0aup (that’s a zero) code is good for 26 weeks so mark your calendars to do it again in 26 weeks. Also, to get 2 copies delivered, sign up 1 account in your spouse’s name and another account in yours”

Call Chicago Tribune Customer Service at 800-874-2863, give them the code and tell them how many papers you want to have delivered each week.I have 6 dropped in my driveway every Sunday for a mere $3! Plus, they’re always giving away Target giftcards for autopay (sometimes advertised, sometimes not), but you have to ask.
Add the autopay code (135) and you will get a $15 Target giftcard mailed to you within a few weeks. You can’t order this online, since they only have space for one code – call customer service. I called yesterday to add one more to my Sunday subscriptions. Pretty soon I’ll need a wagon to lug them all in!
Wow I guess I never thought of getting more than one delivered. I think I will be doing that this week. I just switched to auto pay and got a $25 GC to target.
I found a red and white Jewel coupon book on several displays in Jewel. They include several pretty high-value coupons, but my fave was $2 off ONE Quaker instant oatmeal! Too bad I didn’t have those last week!

I just go pick up my papers….I wouldn’t mind 6 papers dropped by my door every Sunday. How do did you get 6 for $3.00? So you can give them the code and say that you want 6 copies, .50 cents each, dropped at your door?

I picked up 3 tribs at the dollar store in Villa Park today. All had sealed insert wrappers. No RP in any of them. BTW, I enjoy your site. Thanks
casagrande — hmm, I’d better check mine, because that’s where I picked them up. Opened just one this morning and it had all four inserts but haven’t opened the rest yet.
Danion-Yep, give the customer service rep the $0.50 Sunday-only code Rachel mentioned in the post as well as the autopay code Chris gave for the gift card and tell them how many you want. A friend of mine has 10 delivered for only $5.
