Jewel food drive run, 12/11/09
![]()
So dh just told me they’re doing a food drive at work. I already brought most of the Progresso soup from the last deal to the local food pantry, so ran over to Jewel just now and got:
13 cans Progresso soup, $13.00. Used 4 $1.10/3 printables from Coupons.com and SmartSource.com. Got two automatic -$2.49 discounts (see here for info on that).
2 Florida’s Natural OJ, $4.74. Used two $1.00/1 from 11/22 SS.
4 Coffee-mate flavored creamer, $3.96. Used two $1.00/2 STORE coupons from preferred card update booklet, one $1.00/2 from Nestle calendar, and two $.50/1 from 11/1 RP. (Be sure to buy the small FLAVORED kind — the regular nonflavored one is regular price.)
Paid with a $5.00 Catalina and $1.58 in cash. Got back a $5.00 Catalina (for GM). Net cost: $1.58. I’ll probably print more coupons and head back later and buy some more for the food drive, since dh is the one who’s going to have to carry it!

Hmmm. DH? Dear husband?? I am going to attempt this coupon-ing business and see if I can get some soup for the food drive.

doesn’t the add say you get a free progresso broth when you buy 4 cans of soup? did that not work because of the coupon?
Ally — please read the link where it discusses how the broth discount can trigger when you only buy soup. http://www.mashupmom.com/?p=14818
Amber — yup! And yes, do it — I have 13 cans sitting here for him to take on Monday, and will probably pick up some more this weekend, because this is an easy one. You guys have a lot of computers there to print coupons on…
You make this all look sooo easy. I swear it takes me days to get my scenerios together and then more days to get the coupons ready and then sometimes I just don’t even go because those 2 steps were overwhelming. I want this to be more second nature. Your talented, thanks for your blog
Are you talking about the Lombard Fire Department food/toy drive? My husband is in charge of that! I’ll be in Lombard tomorrow in the parade and at Yorktown – we would love to see everyone come out to the prarade and toy drive. Those of you who want to donate and stand on Main st. in Lombard and just hard toys/baby items/ and food to the fire dept. as they walk by. or just go to Yorktown Mall. What a great way to give back.
BTW – LOVE your blog, it’s helped me save soo much money. Merry Christmas!
No — what parade?! Do you have more info, I’d love to blog about it.
Love this deal! Bought 27 cans myself. Had the CS lady scrutinizing my $1.10 coupons and then tell me I could only use one per transaction. I quickly set her straight!
I’ll hit up my local store tomorrow AM. Hopefully they have restocked the Hearty Penne, which is my FAV flavor. YUM
Today she scanned my $1.10 5 times…didn’t notice til I got home. Oh well. Serves her right for aguing about my manq for Coffeemate from Target.com. Said she couldn’t take it, but I said it’s not “Target ONLY” and then said fine, if she really wouldn’t accept it, then take them off my order. She eventually scanned it and it accepted it. So WHY argue if you’ll take it anyway?
