Jewel trip, 11/5/09
$2.24 OOP
I didn’t have the energy to drag two kids out today, so went out to Jewel when dh got home from work. By then they were out of most everything — Knorr sides almost gone, broth gone, paper towels done, got the last 2 Scotties tissue — but I put together the following.
Oh — and Over the Moon Milk is STILL on sale for $2.00 — I was wrong — shelf tag says through 11/8! (Of course I’d left my coupons at home, but…)
Here’s what I picked up for $2.24 OOP:
2 Breyers ice cream, $5.98. Used two $.75/1 from the 10/18 RP.
3 YoPlus, $7.50. Used three $1.00/1 from the 9/13 and 10/4 GM (also print from Coupons.com).
8 Progresso soup, $11.92. Used four $.50/2 from the 10/4 GM (should have printed some $1.10/3, but didn’t).
2 Scott’s tissue, $2.00. Used two $1.00/1 printables
4 Golden Grahams, $7.52. Used two $1.00/2 printables (from last month).
3 Knorr rice sides, $2.97. Used $1.00/3 printable.
4 Chex Mix trail mix, $6.76. Used four $.50/1 printables.
1 minced garlic, $1.99.
1 Fiber One bars, $2.49. Used $.50/1 that came with a sample in the mail.
1 Fiber One toaster pastries, $1.88. Used $.75/1 that came with a sample in the mail.
2 Hellmann’s light mayo, $5.98. Used $1.00/2 printable. Realized when I got home that these expire in less than 2 months, so they’re probably food pantry bound with the Knorr.
Used a $5.00/$50.00 that I pulled out of self checkout the other day. Paid with $35.00 in Catalinas and $2.24 in cash; got back $45.00 in Catalinas. Up $7.76 this transaction. (The machine was running out of ink, so now I have to unload 9 unscannable $5.00 Catalinas with red lines through the barcode… oh well.)

Are the Scott’s tissue good toward the $30, I know because of the coupon they are free, but didn’t know if they contribute toward the $30.
I am loving this site, and getting addicted. Thanks!
Sorry, are there are any of the toilet papers included on this? Diapers?
town — You can see the whole spreadsheet of participating products here: http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=0AvCNA1X49cYgdHRUR2NMTjRaNW84TW85TWVIazZHVWc&hl=en (again this is from Tracey at Couponers Wanted). Unfortunately no diapers this time, but some kinds of Scott and Cottonelle TP are included — I haven’t been getting them bc dh is brand-loyal to Charmin and also they’re not a SUPER (but an OK) deal. If you need tp, you might work some into your orders, though. And no, Scotties tissue aren’t included either.
Hi Rachel,
Is the garlic part of the deal or is that why you paid 2.24 ? I’m confused on how or why you worked that into the deal…:(
The garlic is not part of the deal, nor are the Scotties tissue. I bought it because 1) we needed it
, and 2) after all my other coupons but before using any Catalinas I was at $34.25 pre-tax. So I could either use $30.00 in Catalinas and pay $4.25+tax in cash, or buy something else that cost $.75+ to get me over $35 pre-tax, use $35.00 in Catalinas, and pay whatever my total over $35.00 was + tax. I’d rather pay less out of pocket so worked it to get over $35 to use another $5.00 Catalina to pay for the order. (I actually accidentally subtracted one of my coupons twice when I was figuring this out in the store so thought I had to buy something $1.50+ to get up to $35 instead of $.75+, which is why I bought the $1.99 garlic instead of something cheaper.)
Hi, I am kind of new at this. It seemed to me that with your purchases, that you reached the $60 to $90 dollar amount, which would yield $30 dollars in catalinas. How did you get to $45?
Thanks
Sorry, what I meant to ask was, did you go over $60 before preferred prices to get the last $15 in catalinas?
bevia — Read some of the earlier posts from yesterday answering questions about Catalinas. The tricky thing at Jewel is that it works off “sale,” or the price things ring up at before preferred card. I hit over $90.00 on pre-preferred pricing to trigger $45 in Catalinas. (If you’re new at this, I wouldn’t suggest trying to do this — stick with hitting $30.00 at a time to reduce the chances of error.)
Oh and here’s how it breaks down pre-preferred pricing (as always, check at your store — these can vary):
2 Breyers, $5.99 each = $11.98.
3 YoPlus, $3.39 each = $10.17.
8 Progresso soup, $2.79 each = $22.32.
4 Golden Grahams, $2.79 each = $11.16.
3 Knorr sides, $1.89 each = $5.67.
4 Chex Mix trail mix, $2.99 each = $11.96.
Fiber One bars, $3.89.
Fiber One toaster pastry, $2.49.
2 Hellmann’s mayo, $10.78.
Total pre-preferred pricing: $90.42
(And yes I stood in the scanner aisle with a calculator looking like a complete dork for 10 minutes figuring this out and putting things back on the shelf, because some of what I initially planned to get wasn’t in stock so I had to re-work the deal.)
Thanks all your postings and for admitting about taking a calculator with. I am so going to do that from now on. : )
LOL — I used to bring a separate calculator. I have one on my phone now so pretend I’m texting
.
hi Rachel,
Are Progresso high fiber included in the $30/$15 ? If so can you tell me the sale price.
Thank you so much in advance.
meg — I didn’t see them in the spreadsheet so have been avoiding them. Anyone else tried?
Sorry I’m late Rachel but thanks for clearing that up…I guess I’m trying to get to the point where I need a filler in my order, after my coupons and cats I have been breaking even plus tax except for the yogurt deal… In short I need your advanced class lol.
